so i've been out of town for a week or so, go back and look @ the filter section of my meijer store, notice they have changed the avail. line up.
used to be all flavors of fram, PureOnes, Mobil 1, and a few Bosch(clearish plastic box ones)
now still all the flavors of fram, and and a few Mobil 1, but along side the PureOnes, added in Puro Clasics, and a small selection (similar to the amount of bosch we had) of Purolator Sythetics($9.99 if anyone is interested)

so i notice the pic on the front to one of the P1's is a cartridge filter, never had to use one yet, but being nosy i open the box to look @ it.
Lo and behold, the end caps and central tube are black plastic. in fact the central tube looks like what one would normally refer to as an e-core. find the classic version, same design, look up the fram cross ref, e-core cage as well.

So the question is are all cartridge filters e-cores??

the P1 box even touted "no metal construction for easy recycling" - cuz it's SOOO hard to recycle metal

+1 The Toyota factory ones don't because the cartridge has the center tube and ends. Look one up on the web.
