Last time guys. There is NO LIEN against the house. There's a UCC lien against the solar panels and associated equipment which are attached to the house.

"What are PG&E's rates and prices for net metering?
Compensation for excess energy changes depending on state regulations. The price is set by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and usually the energy is priced at $0.03-$0.04 per kilowatt hour (kWh)."

I am still trying to wrap my head around how this mess works. As I mentioned earlier, the solar "issue" wasn't a determining factor for me. So whatever comes out of this, it is what it is.

At least you can get a solar system. Here we can't get one because the power company can't make enough money if additional panels are installed.

Update:

Spoke with Tesla/Solar City, they are not in a position to negotiate the terms of the lease.

My only options are:

1) Continue payments on the lease
2) Pay off the balance remaining on the lease.

A few attorneys have reviewed the lease and agree that the contract is pretty much ironclad.

Sorry Michael. That was my basic understanding when I started my solar project.
I was not considering a lease anyway, so I only heard minimal information.

Do you know if the lease is secured (tied) to the house?
Regardless, congrats on your new home. Quite an achievement in our area nowadays.
