Can you charge a lead acid battery with a gel cell charger?

I just bought a new battery charger online and I noticed that some of them have a light that says gel. Not sure if they updated it, but I replaced it with the same part number. My current charger doesn't have a gel light. I wonder if that means it can tell whether it's a gel battery or a flooded battery? What happens if you charge a flooded lead acid battery with a gel cell charger?

It's safe though it won't fully charge it but it charges enough. Gell batteries just charge to a lower voltage. It's when you charge a gel battery with a lead acid charger where there's an issue.
