Can altitude effect an OCI?

I ran across this post on another forum:

i think you are all forgetting about altitude as well, at higher altitude oil changes MUST be dont more frequently regardless of synth or non, ive no clue what altitude you are at... above that its better to change the oil more often and in no way is it expensive"


I cant see why it would have any effect on an OCI.

I take that back. A higher altitude will see colder winters (generally) so it would be harder on the engine in the winter months. A lower climate, or a hotter one for that matter would also need a shorter change because of the heat.

Other then that, I cant see any difference.
 
No, THe temp. and operateing cycle you use will but the altitude itself is not going to effect the therodynamics or chemistry of the oil enough to change OCI. We are talking alt. below 24,000 Ft correct.
