Purple Pride; even though you don't like Pennz products, I have to agree with Patman (and the others) on the Platinum or Ultra if you want to meet the GM specs, and are worried about the warranty.
If you are willing to take your chances (on possible warranty challenges in the VERY slight chance of something going south with the LS3, but not because of the oil), then yes, I would go Red Line, Torco SR-5, RP XPR, or one of the upper Amsoil products.
