Burnouts!

On the subject of drifting, my wife, son, and I were coming home in my old jeep one time a few winters ago and she had fallen asleep in the passenger seat. It was snowing good and we had a few inches on the ground. So I decide to have a little fun

I pull into a parking lot and started swerving and doing donuts and at the same time start yelling like we're in trouble. Startled my wife awake and scared the [censored] out of her

My right shoulder was black and blue after that one, but it was so worth it

I did that with a Blizzak earlier this year. Tread depth was a 3 or 4. In other words, useless for its intention. I did a brake stand for a good 20-30 seconds. I think it was throwing rubber inside my fender for at least a good mile afterwards.

Can't in any of mine. It's been awhile -- since all my previous had traction control, and I never had the urge to disable it. My rwd Hemi Aspen, and rwd V8 Sport Trac could have done some decent tire spinning had I turned off traction control.

Want to see the best burnout ever? Youtube the following:

The Best Burnout EVER!!!!

(I would post a link for it but I know I would get into all kinds of trouble for doing it. LOL. Trust me, this youtube is worth looking at!)

My family had a Dodge Duster for a long time. It had Crager S/Ses with 245/60R14s on the back, a 225 Slant Six, automatic and the 7 1/4 rear end. You couldn't even do one burnout with it

But it looked good not doing it.

Makes me miss my first car, a 71 plymouth scamp with the "leaning tower of power.":) It had 197,000miles on it and ran like a champ, however the condition of the body was a different story. Those fresh air vents under the dash were awesome though, you could stash a 6 pack in them:) I miss so much about that car...the foot operated washer pump, the floor mounted high beam switch, the shoulder seat belts that you could fold up into the head liner if you didn't want them, the metal dash, and most of all, the vent windows. Why don't cars have these anymore?:)

Me either but my Marauder, Lightning P/U, '88 5.0 T-Bird & '69 428 Cobra Jet Fairlane all have positive traction rear ends... If I hit it, there won't be any of this teenage, one wheel peel... Any of the four can produce a righteous, fishtailing burnout...

I've always perceived burnouts as a form of vehicular abuse

I try not to do it, and with an automatic Yaris and the TC in the GLI I don't think it's possible.

My first vehicle, a 1985 or 1986 Chevy S10 with a SBC 305 in it and a 3-speed combined with either the 3.73 or 4.10 final drive lit up the tires really well. Oddly enough, winter driving wasn't that bad.

The Cruze will lay rubber through 1st and bark into 2nd with both fronts with the traction control off. No burnouts, though.

TO: Spazdog oh ye on the 7 1/4 rear. the last time i bought a pick up, Dakota 2001, i double made sure it wasnt a 7 1/4. i think they stopped making it. i have a Paper factory manual 2001 dakota. there is NO 7 1/4 rear in the manual. mine came with a 8 1/4 open 3.5 gear. i had a 4.1 gear and posi put in. my mpg went from 9 to 14. only cause i do NOT drive on the hi way, i drive in town streets only. so now at 35 mph it shifts into over drive, rpm drops to 1400 rpm. i havent had it above 55 mph after the change to 4.1

When my MDX had a check engine light come it immediately disables AWD/traction control until restarted. Little did I realize this when I took off on slightly wet road and had incredible torque steer whipping steering wheel with the front tire squeeling and going no where fast pulling out quickly into traffic.

Always a one wheel peel at the wrong time with the Grand Marquis, can't wait to throw a locker 3.73 in there.

When I was in my early twenties and my dad had a 1970 Maverick with a 302....I would light the tires up and chip them when the transmission shifted to 2nd gear.

I have accidentally squealed the tires on my Ecoboost from a dead stop when just trying to take off at a "brisk" pace.

Age has slowed me down somewhat and I don't really want to pay for an 18" Michelin tire.

I have to replace the right rear tire on a regular basis!

Spider and side gears will be next.
