I just read a quote from the owner of a Buick, (Pontiac), GMC dealership, who stated that Buick's current product line up of 3 models will be expanding to 8 (eight) models for 2010.

If that is true, then they're pretty much going to inherit the Pontiac line up.

I keep reading it over and over, and that's what it says. Was he misquoted by the reporter?

A/N Lists GM Nameplates To Be Cut; Chevy & Buick To Add Nameplates

GM nameplates shrinking from 47 to 34

Richard Truett - Automotive News - April 27, 2009

DETROIT -- As General Motors ends production of Pontiac, Saturn, Saab and Hummer vehicles, the number of nameplates will shrink to 34 from 47, GM CEO Fritz Henderson said today.

No vehicles will be cut from the four surviving GM brands. All of the cuts to existing nameplates will come from the brands GM intends to discontinue, Troy Clarke, GM's president of North America, said today at a media event. He said that for brands such as Chevrolet, GM intends to actually add nameplates over the next few years.

Clarke would not say whether some future vehicles intended for Pontiac vehicles could be become Buicks. Clarke did say, "We want to continue to develop the Buick brand, and that'll mean adding products to the Buick lineup."

PHASE OUTS

Here are the vehicles that are being phased out, most at the end of the 2009 model year.
• Pontiac: G8, G6, G5, G3, Solstice, Torrent, Vibe
• Hummer: H2, H3, H3T
• Saab: 9-3, 9-5, 9-7
• Saturn:Astra, Aura, Outlook, Sky, Vue

I hope the Solstice and G series are ported over to another nameplate and given some serious QC and love. I'd like to see them mature into reliable, fun vehicles.

Turn the G8 into a Buick, paint it black, and you've got a future customer.

Better yet, sell me a two-door, RWD, V8 Buick coupe.

With all the old styling of Mustang, camaro, charger, challenger, ect. . .

I smell a new Buick Grand National in the works . . . .

That would be nice. It will be hard to top the G-body GNs though.

i bet that is the plan. i heard that some years ago too.

I really liked the Pontiac G-6. We looked at one when shopping for the wife's Malibu, but she liked the 08 Malibu better and that's what she got. I liked the G-6 better.

Y'all are on to something there. Let's hope the braintrust at GM is swift enough to actually try it.

It looks like a wishful thinking photochop of the Holden Coupe 60, originally intended to have been the 2007 Holden Monaro / Pontiac GTO.

People always talk about how they would buy cars like these, but when given the opportunity, rarely do.

I hope more Holdens make it over here, but the odds are against it and I wouldn't hold my breath. If you want a Holden, better buy it now.

Ummmm.... Do you all actually think that Obama is going to let Buick and Government Motors build a RWD V8 Coupe?

I don't mean to be political here.... but I'm afraid not...

Looks like a Japanese designed Audi. Still a G.M. After this G.M. bailout etc I will not consider a G.M. made product on principle.

That's funny, before the "bailout" I wouldn't consider a Toyota product just on principle.
