I'm looking for quietness, very quick stopping and low brake dusting.

The most important one is stopping, next is quiteness then brake dust (gives me a reason to wash the car lol)

This is for a 99 honda prelude.

any recommendations???

Sounds like a ceramic is what you are looking for. I really like the Autozone Duralast Gold pads. Check to see if they have them in ceramic for your car.

Centric pads might be tough to obtain in Canada.

I just bought a set of NAPA's Adaptive One pads. I'll be installing them very soon, so stay tuned for details.

Remember that it's your tires that ultimately stop the vehicle, not the brakes. Most premium ceramic pads should serve you well as long as you replace or resurface the rotors when you change the pads.

I think they're made in Canada, so perhaps if they aren't called "Centric" there, they're called something else... you might want to contact them.

Michael's right, their ceramic (and other lines) are quite good.

Well I have ceramics I picked up from Part Source on the car now, noise as [censored] and never worked well from the beginning. I've used it for a year now which is good enough for me.

I will be changing the rotors as I'm getting them for cheap (I don't believe in resurfacing, makes them easier to warp and then I have to go and replace again...so might as well replace them now)

100 bucks for 4 good quality rotors is not bad.

I saw this set of Made in Japan Carbon Ceramic Pads can't remember the brand off the top of my head but I did google it and came up with useless results so its not a name well known.

Advios or something like that, 65 bucks a pair for the fronts and was gonna put some cheapos for 30 bucks on the rears (not much use for those anywho)

I do live in Canada so I'd like something I can attain locally.

How about Honda OEM? PBR brand is very good. If you're looking for OEM quality, the PBR Deluxe pads have very good reviews.

If you're looking for performance, their PBR ULT Ceramic line gets lots of raves but noise may be encountered when using this pad.

My experience with several car makes is to first look to OEM pads & rotors first. If you have special requirements then go for the aftermarket. For a daily driver, I have found Rabestos pads quite good and they cover the range from OEM Eq to Ceramic.

OEM rotors is the last thing you'd want for any Honda!

For my CL-S, I'm putting on Brembo rotors (front) and PBR/Axxis Deluxe Plus.

Unfortunately, you can't have all three of those things. It is all a trade off. I have never tried ceramic, so no suggestions there. I have had very good lock with Performance Friction on my Accord. Better than OEM in my opinion. They are a carbon metalic pad. There are couple other favorites on this board. IMO you can always do better than OEM brake pads.

Definately want something better then OEM but for street use only (I don't track the car but I guess I drive it on the streets as some would on the track lol)

Actually my driving style has changed (getting older, thinking a lot more) but still you get in unprovoked predicaments where you need the "ultimate" braking.

Rotors are inroble brand I believe, pads I'm thinking of just grabbing those 65 dollar carbon ceramic pads and throwing a set of cheapos or maybe even oem on the rears. I think my rear original oems are "glazed" if I can use that term as when I use the handbrake and get out of the car or if its on a slight hill it would start squarking.

I'll see if I can source those PBR's, I know i've seen em on Ebay but pricing for a set shipped to my door isn't all that great.

I suggest you go with the same pads in the rear as you will in the front. Having a good pad in the rear helps, especially since you've had bad experiences with subpar pads in the rear and the result is them getting glazed.

Hawk HPS
PBR/Axxis ULT Ceramic
PBR/Axxis Metal Master
Bendix CT-3
Centric Posi-Quiet Semi-Metallic

...are all great choices for you!

Rotor is rotor as long as the iron is cast in uniform quality. Honda OEM rotors are good enough, even Autozone Dura Last Gold (Chinese) are good enough. It is the brake pads' compound, surface area of the pads and the rotors, and the pressure applied, that determine the stopping power.

I have Hawk HPS pads and EBC rotors on my ride. I really like the set up.

the reason why the rears are glazed is because they are almost 10 years old :) original rotors too... honda oem parts
