I was able to pick up a Bosch Oil Filter or 2 from AZ for 1.62 each ( with AutoZone $5 off coupon - see product coupon/rebate forum ) , I understand they are good filters made by Purolator?

Is that correct? It is the black filter in the black box ( not the Bosch extended blue filter in clear box).

Doing some research it sounds like a few years ago these were poorly constructed by fram and the same as an OCOD, and then purolator bought them and now they are the same as a P1?

Does that sum it up?

Plan on using one with M1 in my good car and one with maxlife in my old car / beater.

None made by FRAM (Honeywell) IIRC, but Champion Labs. Most are Purolator OEM now, but if you got an old one, its prob Champion -they marketed "Lee MaxiFilters" - remember them?

Off topic, but were you able to use that $5 coupon more than once? I thought it was one time only. Just wanting to know so I can go use it again.

Also, the Bosch should be at least P1 quality or better. There's some photos on this site of some cut open and they look similar to the P1.
