Bourke, NSW, Australia is at 43C (109F) and expected to climb higher over the next few days.

At least our oil add packs are not falling out, heat helps solubility.

You guys over East have been hammered the last couple of years. We've not had an "extreme" weather event since about 2012 (and that was only a few hailstones and a bit of wind).

I know it's a hot day when I get in the car and the oil temp gauges (engine & trans) are already off the stops and moving toward 50C before I start the car.

We're heading for about 35 today, with 23 and rain tomorrow. Still, your perspective about hot gets skewed when you do a few 50C+ Middle Eastern summers.

Out hottest days are the same.

It's amusing at one place where I used to work I parked my car underground, come back 8 plus hours later and the coolant is pretty much where I left it.

Those days are also the only time when I felt a difference in engine lightness in a Euro car filled with xw40.

That's just starting to get warm!

Here in Phoenix, the hottest city in the U.S., we had over 30 days over 110 degrees this last year, and have an average of 110 days above 100 degrees

Half a foot of snow outside. Still pounding. Love the heat, I wish it wasn't such a long way away, I'd visit.

It's -33 C right now. Want to trade for a bit?

Mate, I would love to.

It was a bit warm here too. From 5F (-15C) yesterday morning to 55F (13C) this afternoon. Cruel trick, this weather.

Yeah, this morning in Pittsburgh area 36 and black ice everywhere. Then by 11am it was 54F. Gotta love PA weather; if you don't like it, wait 5 minutes

Rural areas in W.A. often tip 50º during the height of summer. Certainly had several Christmas' like that, thank goodness the power held up.

Drove the old tank through it (more than 50ºC) early last February. Aside from having to run the A/C in recirc, car more or less behaved fine, economy was great as ever... That said, I was deliberately driving well under the speed limit so as not to tempt fate.

Today will almost be the worst of all. It at least warmed up after the -33, given a few hours. Today is a high of -28 C, but we'll be above freezing next week. Yeesh.

To be honest, I have no experience driving is such cold conditions. You would need to teach me the basic ice road driving skills. I was in Norway years ago, with day time highs of -15C, with beautiful sunny and blue skies. But with ice on the pavement (I was only walking) I was falling down all over the place.

You say that now, but just a couple of minutes in that freezing cold temp and every part of your body hurts. It's brutal. I'll take heat over cold a thousand times over. At least when it's hot you can find a pool or other body of water to cool off. When it's cold, there is no escape, even when you go inside a warm building it takes you half a day for the feeling in your fingers to come back. No thanks.

High 70's here in central FL. I'm hoping Big Ben can pull off another SB win.
