Bigger Filter!! Whens the right Time??

Hi guys I just wanted to ask your opinions on when I should start using bigger filters. I have a, 2000 dodge dakota V8 with a pure 1(PL14670) running Mobil 1. I have 500 miles left till I get an oil change and 2 filters waiting for me on my shelf. Another Pure 1 PL14670 or a Pure 1 PL30001 which is 1 1/2 in longer. Would I benefit running a bigger filter in our cold new england winter or should I run it later on when the Temp Increases around here. Are there any Benefits to running a bigger filter Yr round or original size at certain times of the Yr. Thanks!!

I like to run larger filters but since you have both on hand right now I'd use the short first then the longer ones from then on. Or you could just close your eyes and grab one to use first.
