Between these 2 radar detectors...

I have the Beltronics STi Driver and it works awsome for me. It can pick up radar from a couple miles away. Laser is hardly ever used around here, mostly moving radar and sometimes stationary. K-band is the standard, apparently Ka units are way more expensive.

I'll just drive the speed limit (weather permitting) and not worry about radar detectors or getting a ticket. I'll not only save the cost of the radar gadget, but I'll save the cost of tickets as well as enjoy much cheaper insurance rates.

good answer, but a lot will not listen.

In some area of some states driving at speed limit is dangerous, even in right lane.

In So Cal on I5 and I405 when we have light traffic, which is rare, I set cruise control at 65 MPH on number 3 lane of 4 lane each way, the traffic was flowing at 75-80 MPH on 2 left lanes(number 1 and 2) and around 70 MPH on number 4 lane on the right. Many vehicles approached my tail at 70-75 MPH and made sudden change to either left or right. I was the one who impeded traffic flow when I drove at speed limit on second to right most lane.

If I was in the right most lane at speed limit I impeded the on and off ramp traffic.

To be safe, going with traffic flow on the right lane is the way.

Check out the Waze app for your phone. Other users tag cops and the app warns you before you get to them. Nothing is 100% fail safe, but it works well.

No matter how fast you drive to work, you aint gonna save no time, your gonna be there 3o years, so what is the hurry?? Ego is the hurry. You just can't stand to have someone in front of you..

Remember, each month , your state or your drivers kill roughly a 1000 folks every month, and really no one gets upset. Haven't seen a riot yet in America over the killing of civilians in cars,,just saying, not one riot or building burning over car deaths..will not yet anyway.

Math, how does it work?

1 tank of gas goes 400 miles.
400 miles at 55MPH = 7.27 hours
400 miles at 85MPH = 4.70 hours
If you consume only 1 tank per week, the higher speed will save you 2.57 hours per week.

Or put another way, on an 800 mile trip, you will arrive 5.14 hours sooner at the higher speed.

At 15,000 miles per year, you save about 100 hours. You have gained 4 days worth of additional free time.

This is the bottom line.

I think the future will consist of GPS-enabled detectors coupled with apps such as WAZE or Escort Live.

Yep and just like me, I have saved enough by shortcuts that I can skip 3 months....I like your math.

With semis and even midline new cars having active cruise control and the like... you'll get many falses for every real alert...

Even better, Einstein's theory of relativity tells us that time goes SLOWER when you go faster....

The only time I ever got a speeding ticket (2) was when I had a radar detector and I wasn't speeding, they jinx me. I did beat one of the tickets because the State police officer said she saw the detector on my dash when I drove through the speed trap. I told the judge that I was the only stupid driver on the highway at that time. I drive that highway every day to work, know it's the speed trap area, see all the cars ahead of me hitting the brakes, my radar detector is going off yet I kept speeding. He looked at the officer and asked about what I said and she shrugged her shoulders and said her gun doesn't lie, he dismissed the case.

You do realize they have those already, correct? Escort isn't going to use Waze of course, but they have GPS and Escort Live integrated.
