i have heard the same thing done to a volvo wagon but with ford v-8 taken froma mustang. I think Dave Letterman had it done sometime way back in th 90s

The father-in-law and I dropped a modified 302 and 5-speed Mustang transmission into his 1993 regular cab Ford Ranger. It was a pretty awesome sleeper until you'd step on the gas and the thing would roar like [censored] on wheels... Neat truck.

V8 Volvo's are pretty common out there. There are at least 10 that I know about in western Pa.

Paul Newman and David Letterman had Ross Converse build them 380 HP 302ci 1997 Volvo 960 Station Wagons. Ross will sell you a kit under $1K that will make the conversion very easy. Ross is well known for his engine swaps all across the U.S..
