thanks - my tbird has ONE 9007 bulb for each headlight, and use the same bulb for low and high beams.
ddm site has 2 options for 9007 (drop down list): "9007" and "9007 hi/lo" which is 20 bucks more expensive.

so I guess for my tbird i should get the "9007 hi/lo" kit ??

highly doubt it!! put a pic up and prove that there isn't any glare putting a hid kit in a halogen housing!

Umm, NO, he/she should just leave it stock all the time. They're illegal for a reason.

I am trying to decide between getting a ddm HID kit (hoping that the bulb cover in my headlamp housings prevent blinding of others)

OR: getting an upgraded wiring harness and getting some Philips Xtreme bulbs...

I guess the 2nd choice is the more "decent" choice, but a lot more $$ considering how cheap and easy the ddm HID kits are...almost 3x as cheap. (assuming i get the single 9007 35w kit)

What kind of light increase are you looking for. Foreground or distance? Maybe an option could be auxillary lamps. Purpose-built designs will always perform better than HIDkits in halogen enclosure, yet still remain legal and safe. They will be switchable and can be very high performance.

By way of information, just because a HID bulb has greater luminance doesn't mean it actually performs better. By dumping a bunch of uncontrolled light in front of your car you are going to get scattered light flowing in all directions not just on the road. So in the rain the upward stray light will actually impede your ablility to see as it will backscatter and reflect back towards you. Without doubt, this uncontrolled light will be dazzling to oncoming traffic, possibly causing moments of blind driving, creating a danger for them and others around them. If you are on an undivided road, it could dazzle them enough to veer into your direction as well.

1) Make sure your lamps are free of pits are clear and not hazy. 2) Then make sure your voltage drop isn't too much, if its good go for the halogen bulbs that your car is designed for, and know that you are being a safe, responsible driver.

yeah i agree... i did read DS website before...good info.

I guess I will try to find a decent wiring harness for 9007 (and get some Philips Extremes, or even use the Vision Plus I have now). Daniel Stern's is not complete - (no wiring).
wonder what wiring harnesses are good except SUVlights one...They really seem to be shady to me, and I have heard bad things about their CS...

Thanks - those look pretty solid, even 12 Ga wire!

This (is on their site) is what made me a bit weary about SUVlights, in addition to some bad feedback online (in forums, etc) - I think their products ARE good, it's just the CS i am worried about, in case something goes wrong:

" in 2004 the Better Business Bureau continuously telemarketed and extorted approx $500 from suvlights to become a member. We paid the $500 for a "lifetime membership" only to be told later it was for 1 year. Additionally the BBB has purposely downgraded our rating from AAA to AA, then to B, and now to D without responding to our complaints and counting complaints that are beyond our control, counting shipping issues that are the shippers fault (ie US Postal Service, or UPS) and not ours"

tbird,

My advise is not give in to your baser instincts and succumb to ddmtuning. Philips Xtreme does NOT need new harness. It has the same current requirement as your original bulb.

Vikas,
I know the requirements are the same, but a harness benefits with ANY bulb in general, as it gets more voltage to the bulbs, so the bulb can operate at its max power. Some Tbird owners i know really have benefited from a harness, even withOUT changing bulbs.
explained here:
http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/relays/relays.html

(I was thinking of getting a harness just in general - not because I want to get Philips Xtreme - i didn't clarify that before - sorry - harness+xtreme may be the best, but even harness+vision plus which I have now maybe enough...we'll see.
If and when i do get the harness, I'll do a comparo with existing bulbs before i change to philips extremes )

I did not realize that you already have vision plus. In that case, first measure the voltage drop to verify that you will be benefited from the new harness.

Philips Vision Plus is much better than standard bulb.
Philips Extreme is not much better than Vision Plus. Don't waste money for Philips Extreme if you already have Vision Plus.

Take some pics before and after to get perspective. Sometimes when there is a long space of time between upgrades, its hard to see how much it has improved.

I think your reply would carry lot more weight if you were to explain why you think this kit is garbage. At least say something like "it is priced dirt cheap, so it must be garbage" :-)
