hey guys,
what will be better, using amsoil/redline once a year or castrol magnatec, valvoline ex twice a year?both scenarios include changing the filter also.
a 17 mazda cx5 na 2.5 engine, sunday to friday VERY short city trips, weekends longer highway trips,600miles a month, 100 miles tops from that is the city short trips,
no reving, towing ex just a regular driving.
tnx a lot.

If your warranty allows it, I'd go with the once a year oil. The longer weekend trips should take care of any oil dilution. I don't see a reason you'd have to use amsoil/redline for a yearly oil change - you could use the castrol or valvoline if you'd like. You're only putting on 7,200 miles/year.

In the scenario you describe I would opt for the Castrol Magnatec, Valvoline, etc. twice a year.

SAME!!

a 2017 Mazda CX5 na 2.5 engine does not require exotic oils - - ever

even tho the daily very short trips?
its like 2.5miles a day in total in two trips to work and back.

i have access to the oem filter only here but if i will be able to order one from ebay what would you recommend?
tnx

Everything above in relation to oil, is speculation and opinion without UOAs.

Filter? If Fram Ultra is available I'd go with that. Since Amsoil is available to you, that's also an excellent choice - - and I would leave both on for a year no matter which oil and interval on which you settle.

You seemed satisfied with the Magnatec earlier.

"the stop start 5w30 has hths of 2.9 and 12.1 of noack, not somthing special but the tbn is 11.1,
been using it to seems to quiet down the cold starts."

Pick a oil that meets the specs. Change it once a year. The Mazda oil filter is excellent. No worries.

That is until your next thread.

after so many modified cars and bikes in my life its hard to realize i have a stock, reliable Japanese car that will be fine with everything within the specs.
its a mentality change im going through.
its the first stock car in my life.

No need to run boutique oils (Redline, Amsoil) if you're only doing 7,000 miles per year and changing it every year. Any name brand synthetic and most synthetic blends will work nicely.
