Found this today and the family is freaked out. Something was chewing it's way in.. or out.. Its too cold for small animals like mice or chipmunks. The chunks of rubber, bite marks look larger. Snow on the ground, no tracks from the usual suspects like deer. Who love the bushes. Wondering what could do that.

Any small animal is active when they're freezing, and trying to seek warmth.

Just out of view on the floor is a gallon of deer spray. Think they use coyote pee. No doubt that jug smells.

If you can't notice a porc in your garage you might need to do some organizing. No tracks in the snow means it's still in residence probably, and hungry.

By the looks of the rubber..something was trying to get out.. so your varmint is probably still with you.

Im going to say Possum.. perhaps a Coon.

It is rare where I use the big folding entry door. Most households today cannot fit a vehicle in the garage anymore. Our garages are loaded with garage stuff and household stuff nowadays.

No more than a few years after I moved in, I installed a 36" side door to my garage. Then a few years later, my rubber strip under my front lift door started exhibiting rubber-shredding too. Got rid of the bird feeders - put out rat traps and bought a couple long plastic landscaping strips to put across the bottom of the fold-up door. Propped those landscaping strips up with a few bricks that sealed-shut the rubber stripping at the bottom of the door.

If I need to open that big door, I remove the landscaping strips. But that's never more than 3-4 times per year now. I have no riding mowers, nor snow blowers that won't fit thru that 36" side door.

Advantage small lot size. My vehicles are kept 24-7 on the side driveway, but behind the gate. No more thefts, vandalism and drunks crashing into my vehicles parked on the front street.

Good thinking, and may I add, "elementary my dear Watson"

OP, I don't want to worry you but, "The call is coming from inside the house"

That was Phil's brother and he saw his shadow last week.

I feel like I'm in the bush there are so many animals around the house right now. But I'm only 10 minutes away from downtown Nashua NH. 40 mins from Boston. The biggest concern in this area is the booming coyote population.

Outside cats will keep all critters away. They're the best pest control ever!

I'm with the guys that think the critter was inside the garage. That was genius! With all the rubber pieces on the inside.
