How often should they be replaced?
On an UPS and then sump plugs in.
Really never used, just sits there.
Deep cycle battery.
Just replaced pipes and both sumps so I figure now is the time.

Mine tells me when the battery is toast.
Light on the control panel + alarm went off. (This was in the last 6 weeks.)
I checked mine with my load tester.
It was shot.
Replaced battery.

Battery life is 5-7 years, depending on the number of deep cycles it goes through.

Unplug the main pump and charger and let the battery work. You will know soon enough....every 3 years is recommended by most companies.

Just looked. Regular 65 size battery. At least 8 years old. Never really cycled.

Best battery type to replace it???

Alright, just replaced with an EverStart Maxx 27DC battery.
Manufacturer of sump control switch says they recommend every three years. There's battery is at least eight years old. I hooked it up to my ProLogix PL2320 charger and it says 13.6 V 100% charged. Does that mean anything without the Lotus? This is the same battery size for my truck also.

Climate controlled sealed lead acid batteries on proper temperature controlled float chargers can last 15+ years.

A fast load test doesn't define capacity loss, which is important here.

A constant power load duration evaluation is important.

Well I don't see that happening
