Shell owns Pennzoil, so I was thinking the same thing. 3k oil changes with PP is such a waste.

I wished someone would pay for my Pennzoil and Shell gas. I would then gladly change PP at 3k miles and use the higher octane gas

Hello,

Just wanted to drop a quick note on a video I saw on Multimedia News where a woman named Barbara Terry recommended Pennzoil Platinum and Shell fuels. I couldn't agree with those recommendations more, but I thought it was odd that she recommended 3,000 mile oil changes. I think it would be a better advertisement for your products if she had said (or at least indicated) that they can go a lot longer than that, which I know they can in the right applications. She could have said something like "make sure you change your oil as often as your owner's manual recommends, and make sure you use a quality synthetic if you can. Pennzoil Platinum can go a lot longer than a conventional oil without needing to be changed, and it can even clean up to 46% of sludge on the first oil change and keep cleaning after that. You know it'll go the distance, keep your engine running, and give you that peace of mind."

I'm a fan of your products. I'm sponsored by another company so I can't use the lubricants, but I use Shell V-Power almost exclusively and happily recommend SOPUS products where I can.

Take care!

Sent by me to SOPUS just now...

When I worked at a WM TLE, we had a Pennzoil sales rep come and talk to us.

Long story short, he was the same as this - no matter what the oil, change it at 3k miles (5k km). He said it is a complete myth that synthetics last longer than conventionals - he said they both get dirty just the same, so they need to be changed to get dirt out of the car. Clamed the ONLY advantage of synthetics was better cold-starting ability for winter, NOT exteneded intervals.

I asked him about longer intervals being specified by manufacturers, and he took the classic line of 'yes, they do, but think about it - they don't want your car to last forever, they want to sell you a new one, don't they?' He basically said that anyone that 'actually cares' about their car will change thier oil at 3k.......

Pennzoil motor oil.... Shell gas....

SOPUS anyone?

Honestly, I'd like to be able to get Shell gas here, but locally, we're over-run with Mobil stations...

His commission check depends on how much of the [censored] is spewed out and how much people buy into it. I'm guessing his checks are rather huge

Sadly, I think the large majority of the population has the old school mindset that oil should be changed every 3k (less if possible).

First, NOT HOT! And secondly expert at what? I feel like I'm watching one of those fake infomercials where the guy says "I'm a medical doctor"! Sure.....

I hope the rest of america doesn't listen to this ***** chick recommending wasting a perfectly good oil every 3K.

I think she looks pretty cute, but only ever saw pictures of her. Didn't watch the video as I am at work. I wouldn't do it at 3k unless told so by the manufacturer under warranty.

I think we'd all propose to her if she were a mechanic and easily within driving distance.
