I was driving with friend and he by accident pushed gear to neutral and switched back to D

i heard that stuff like this can kill automatic transmission right ?

Depends on the load on the transmission. For example in neutral rev the engine into redline then drop it in gear!!! that is bad. An auto shifts by it self if people want to shift then a manual trans should be bought.The best thing for an auto trans in put it into D and leave it ,let the auto trans do the auto things .
 
Wife did that a few times by accident too (like when I was driving and she had to reach into the back seat for something). No biggie for our Corolla. Engine just revs a bit.

Most of the time when this happens someone pushed it from drive to N by accident. Not even aware it was done until you hear/feel engine reving. Not a big problem for a few times a year it might happen.

Another chance to plug for Magnefine filter. (And I bought mine at NAPA). Its the best $20 you can spend for your transmission and takes 10-15 minutes to install.

Absolutely harmless. Doing that every mile would be another situation.
