I'm going to luck into a Miata that my dad has had for a couple of years. It is a 1993 with 113,000 miles on it. He just bought an '02 on Wednesday. It has the HLA ticking noise and I'd like to try AutoRX to see if it will help solve the problem, and also just to clean everything out after 113,000 miles. It won't be a daily driver, just weekends and occasional fun drives, so I don't know how long it would take to get up to the recommended mileage in the AutoRX instructions. Could I shorten the intervals and get good results? I guess I could force myself to drive the convertible more if I need to

I think after the AutoRX I'll either put GC or Rotella in there to hopefully keep the tick away.

Congrats on the new (to you) car!

I just picked up a 95 with 103K miles as an impulse buy, and am thinking along the same lines as you. I don't have the ticking noise, but I have no idea of the maintenance history, so I assume the worst.

My first move was to put 6 Oz of LC in the crank, and 4 Oz of FP3000 in the tank (shock dose). I am ordering Auto Rx today, and will change the oil as soon as it arrives (the current oil looks fresh, but I have no idea how long it has been in).

Mine runs well, but seems like it should have more "pep". I hope to see a marked improvement with these changes.

but does the time in the sump matter? it might take a year to get 2500 miles on the car.
