Are the autos out there to sissy looking?

I drive what I like, including a minivan, and while I am happily married, I get plenty of female attention.
I guess what I am saying is that there are no sissy cars, only sissy men.

Seems you are missing the light-hearted nature of the post?
Lord, I thinks you protest too much, if you know what I mean...

You CAN make a hybrid that looks good - Ford, Honda, Lexus have.
It's ugly on purpose - to let people know you love Al Gore and the planet.
Funny thing is, in a 2009 study, Prius drivers were the worst for accidents and I think tickets.
LOLZ

True, there are other better looking hybrid, but their fuel economy aren't as good (only slightly better than the non hybrid), so why bother?

Of course. The third-gen Prius is the most aerodynamic ever, even beating the new Honda by a tad.
Again, I think this thread was meant as a joke more than some oil-forum man-meter

Yes, they have gone from "aerodynamic" styling to aerodynamic function.

AFAIK:

1. European regs to make cars friendlier to pedestrians.
2. The front end has to match the high sides, which cars have to have for crash compatibility with all the taller vehicles going around.

Both an outrage IMO, but that's another story...

Gotta admit that that does make sense. Still don't look good tho.

I didnt seem lighthearted to me, rather a bit sophomoric. Too much fake macho going around; the toothless girls like it though

On yet another aesthetic note: The current CRV is the ugliest frankenstein mobile ive seen in years - I think its the falling curve of the rear qtr window that puts me off - I sorta like the Edsel front end.

As outrageous as allowing other taller vehicles to have high bumper, that the lower vehicle has to match it.

Every time I see a CRV the other definition of CRV comes to mind,
CRV = (California Refund Value) which is on recyclable containers here. It should have a value after it though, should it be 5 cents or 10 cents?

Bumper height should be a factor of vehicle design, and people should be allowed to have whatever kind of kind of vehicle they want. What's outrageous to me is that so many people use that right to buy huge vehicles they don't need, to the point that everyone (including the people whose needs and finances restrict them to small econoboxes) has to pay for it whether they like it or not.

I'd never say vehicles with high bumpers should be disallowed. I just think people need to think in greater depth about what they buy.

Well, guess we saw it differently...
I have looked at cars like the VW Bug, and would have no issues if I liked it enough.
But there's no arguin' some cars are a tad gurly. They're even marketed as such.
Now - why do you think the recent release of Muscle Cars is so successful?
To balance the metro-sexual vehicles I think.
I'll takes me a green Camaro Synergy thank you very much!
It's green, close enough.

The ideal car is something you can drive fast and not attract unwanted attention from the guardians of public order.
You can drive an Aerostar, an Accord or a Subaru as fast as you want to go, and gain no notice from the polizei.
If the true purpose of a vehicle is transportation, then a car which allows you to drive fast without undue attention is what you want.
A green Camaro Synergy would not be such a car.

I will say a sissy car gets no respect on the road...When entering a highway nobody makes room for the sissy car...I saw that happen to a red Bettle just this morning...He had to ride the shoulder for awhile...They get no respect when they are trying to change lanes even when they signal and when you come to four way stop [A Lot of that down here] the sissy car is the last one to leave stop sign.

Mike laughs at this post as he runs outside to start his 2000 Trans Am WS6, just to make sure the huge cam still sounds good at idle...Ah still sounds good. Now I can drive the Buick into work tomorrow and know that summer is comming.

You shouldn't have blocked him like that. You should hear what he is saying about drivers of mouth breather cars over on the Beetle forum.

A lot of people in tough-looking cars give no respect because they think their cars give them the right to bully other drivers or just ignore half of what's going on. That's a sight worse than getting no respect no matter what you do because people judge your car based on appearance.

I think you're confusing "types of people" with "types of cars". While there's probably a connection, I see plenty of people in sissy cars and macho cars driving like they own the road, the problem is the idiot behind the wheel, in all cases. IMO.

That's not how it works. A beat up car that is driven as if it has no insurance and someone with a gun in the back seat wins, and a new car lose, when fighting for space.

Umm, NOT all scoobies!!
Try doing that in an electron/team blue STI, with a loud aftermarket exhaust system and some Cobb (or other company's) mods.
Quick way to end up in the pokey (around here at least!).

As a clown-mobile driver, I do not back off if someone ignores 4 way stop sign etiquette in their macho truck. I'll head right for your drivers door, full throttle , 1st gear - POW! The crash might even break your vinyl door trim off! Take THAT!
