Maybe it's just me, but this Samsung j7 I have is a pain to type on. I suppose it's possible I'm hitting the wrong keys. I didn't have any issues typing this question.

Yup, works great on my S7.
Aside from it's functions, I really dislike Samsung phones.
I'm looking forward to going back to Sony for my next phone.
Battery life is my biggest gripe!

Fleksy would help you there. It also has a neat tool built in - you can swipe left and right on the spacebar to move the cursor within a text box.
Im afraid to use those 3rd party keyboard apps. I read that they capture your keystrokes and app developers can have access to passwords and online banking credentials. I do banking and trade stocks using my iphone.

Me too. Fleksy and Swiftkey are both extremely reputable - they've been in the game forever.
On the iPhone it shouldn't matter - it reverts to the stock keyboard when entering passwords.
I cover my [censored] by using biometric authentication for financial apps on Android.
