Are car specs becoming secret?

I don't get it. I went to the Ford website and downloaded a Fiesta brochure. I wanted to get some detailed specs for the car. What I got was a joke. The brochure has no real details, mainly just general fluff stuff and photos. No vehicle weight, fuel tank size, engine description (chain/belt, piston size, compression ratio, engine material, etc.), tire sizes, trans/drive drive gear ratios, etc. So I got a Focus brochure and an Elantra brochure. They follow the same script as the Fiesta. [censored] is up with this? Why are they keeping this kind of info secret? It used to be standard issue in the brochures. Where can I get this sort of information?

Nope, it's just a reflection of the lack of interest of the general public.

Find the right department to contact at the manufacturer and they will give you the information.

Yeah, Tenderloin, thanks. Did you drag that stuff out of the owner's manual?

That's good stuff too, ACM. But it's Honda only, right?

One of my favorite websites is IntelliChoice. They have detailed specs on about anything...oh but not the new Fiesta for some reason.

Very odd that the redline is 6,000 rpm and the horsepower peak is 6350 rpm.

Interesting, there's a Fiesta at 38 highway and Fiesta SFE at 40 MPG.

This from fueleconomy.gov and also ford's website.

The vast majority of buying public does not care about those items, so why fill the brochure up with it.

That's interesting. I wonder at what rpm fuel cut is set. If it is lower than peak I wonder if they are just using that HP number as a marketing gimmick.

I'd spend some time to come up with some clever comment ..but

It would be funny if it's not a typo.

"It was felt that the consumer would be served best by limiting access to such raw power".

How about:

"We were Ford men and we likely knew
that we would race until something blew
so we thought it over.... wouldn't you?"
