Not all of them

Read this VERY carefully. This is XOM's way out:

What we will do to correct problems
ExxonMobil will replace any lubricant that is defective. In addition, if there is equipment failure due to the lubricant you purchased, and the engine was serviceable at the time the oil was installed, ExxonMobil will repair any equipment damage directly caused by a defect or malfunction of the lubricant, at no cost to you, provided that the lubricant was selected and maintained in accordance with specifications of the OEM or the written instructions (which includes product packaging) of ExxonMobil.

This means your selected Mobil One product must meet the manufacturers recommendation. I.E. not 15W50 in a 0W20 application. You should read very carefully.

So that means that Mobil 1's warranty is only good for 5,000 miles if the manufacturer's OCI is 5,000 miles figured using an inferior oil than Mobil 1?

I can guarantee you that if your owner's manual and FSM says to change your oil every 3000 miles, and if you go 10,000 miles and spin a bearing,XOM will tell you,"Please consult your vehicle's owner's manual". Be prepared to have an attorney on retainer, but I bet they will have one as well if you try to fight them. Read the second paragraph:

What the warranty covers
ExxonMobil Fuels & Lubricants Company, a division of Exxon Mobil Corporation ("ExxonMobil"), provides this limited warranty to the purchasers who use Mobil 1 lubricants in their vehicles. This limited warranty covers the lubricant and critical engine parts lubricated by the lubricant. ExxonMobil warrants its lubricants to be free from defects and that the lubricant you purchased will protect your vehicle's critical engine parts from oil-related failure.

Be advised that if your vehicle is covered by a warranty, you should follow the vehicle's oil life sensor or the oil change interval recommended in your owner's manual to avoid a disruption in your vehicle warranty. Follow your owner's manual if the vehicle is operated in any of the following severe services: racing or commercial applications including taxis, limousines, etc.; frequent towing or hauling; extremely dusty or dirty conditions; or under excessive idling conditions.

Haha! Now that is desperate XOM guarantees Mobil One for 10K OCI's if the correct manfacture recommendation for grade is used. Now the best you can do is stating you alone can promise XOM will not stand by its word. That is original.

That's how I'm reading it. If the OM says change the oil every 6 months or 6K miles and you run the oil for 7 month and 5K miles you may very well be SOL, if you have an oil related problem. If it says 1 year or 7,500 miles and you run it 11 months 8K miles you might be SOL too. Why chance it while under warranty?

Here is the good news:

quote
"The Mobil 1 limited warranty is valid for 10,000 miles or your vehicle's OEM recommended oil change interval, whichever is longer."

Here is the bad news:

quote
"Oils must be put in service not later than five (5) years from the date of purchase
and an oil change must be completed every twelve (12) months."

No oil changes longer than 1 year but at least 10,000 miles.

Keep your receipts!

There are a few clues that M1 EP & AP are a cut above most other oils. Biggest clue is the MSDS sheets which reveal more PAO content the more premium you go in the M1 lineup.
Also, they claim the antioxidants in AP are new & superior ("anti-aging" technology they call it). "Features and Potential Benefits. Mobil 1 Annual Protection 0W-20, 5W-20 and 5w30 are formulated with high performance synthetic basestocks fortified with a proprietary anti-aging technology system, designed to provide our longest lasting engine protection." ---- their website. It can be believed, probably. They do advertise the tests they run on dynos & their road trip stuff, yet I don't see any comparison runs with other non-AP oils, so not sure if other oils would have done about as good.
About the older M1 EP, it has more PAO, in some grades as I recall, compared to silver-bottle regular M1 & M1 AFE too, plus we can assume EP has anti-ox tech that allows it to go 15k miles.

That's ok because normal people don't have more than 5 years worth of oil stash

What are your thoughts on PP and PUP oil_film_movies?

I use PP 0w20 now, mainly because of its mail-in-rebate (net $13 pre 5-qt jug), use of GTL GroupIII+ base oil (almost as good as PAO), Shell engineers behind it, dexos1 Gen2 & SN+ rated. PUP 0w40 is one of my favs in that weight due to it's 275 ppm moly and use by BMW in motorsports, as well as holding up in SRT Hellcats of course. The other PUP weights are lagging behind on certifications, not dexos1 Gen2, so not favored since no timing chain tests and GMOD passed, or at least no proof they're good for that.
Actually PUP is like Castrol gold bottle Ext Perf, behind in certifications but, still, probably decent oil, just not favored.
I might go premium oils in the future, like Ravenol, M1 AP, Eneos Racing Street, Zepro with tons of moly, not sure what to buy. I'm a Valvoline Maxlife full syn fan too, so I'm very confused about future plans.

I am planning to run M1 EP for one year oci. The milage will be approx 16000kms ( 10000 miles) but the vehical will see short trips during weekdays in severe Winnipeg cold.
Do the anti aging and superiior anti oxidants listed above protect the oil going acidic or go bad due to moisture absorption and fuel dilution ?
if the vehical is run 40 or 50 kms over weekend, does the illeffect of short trips get reversed?
Is doing 1 year oci with M1 EP in such conditions safe? ( there is 500 ml oil added every 2500 kms or so)...

I started using M1 5-20 in 1978. I have always done 10K OCIs in several types of engines. All have never had any oil related problems, stayed very clean, never have showed any sign of engine wear, and none of my engines ever increased oil consumption over time and mileage. Even some high mileage engines like a 1990 Ford Ranger 3.0 V6 with 354K.

I bought a 2011 new with that same engine, sometimes reset the oil minder and went 10k miles due to busy schedule, most of it was highway miles though, on M1 AFE 0W-20 it never hiccuped and the oil barely changed color on the stick after that long. Great engine, not the most powerful, but will survive armageddon! I only sold it so I could buy a 4 door and I wanted a V6 automatic. Toyota does or used to spec 5k changes for all their trucks and SUV's regardless of syn or dino in the sump. My 04 Tacoma has a 5k OCI as well for dino and it's super easy on oil since it's a non interface timing belt engine. I'm going to run this AFE 0W-30 to 8k miles and get a UOA to see if 10k miles can be done, if so, I'll be happy to cap it at that interval!

like any other thing you buy in life from fruits to tools to computers to cars ... the quality can/will vary!
despite whatever the consensus is on bitog and I'm not sure if there is one or not, however, imho oil meeting a certain spec doesn't mean it can meet or exceed any other spec or any other quality that hasn't been listed or accounted for in the so called original "spec". You can also meet a certain spec but not exceed it as a better oil may do. That's based on life experience

forgot to mention coffee they all meet the spec but some taste like crap

Correct.

Did Mobil 1 change the text on their page in the past couple of days ? How was that missed by others ? They clearly cover 10k mile intervals. The only caveat is this doesn't apply while the vehicle is still under the manufacturer's warranty.
