Anyone using a Euro oil in older vehicles?

You seriously didn’t know after being on here all this time with endless posts?!?

Honestly, I didn’t follow the euro grades or post much in the European oils forum. I’m a little less knowledgeable on this subject. My apologies sir. Knowledge is power; most of us are here to learn. That is all. It won’t ever happen again.

It’s not a matter of euro grades. This is simple as “can run a 40wt oil in an old ford escort engine?”

Some members post a million searched up threads in response to questions like this.

But this is just a thick vs thin question by another name. There is no redeeming nuance in this case.

Thus my questions.

It’s not about using a thick oil in an old ford vehicle. He asked me for advice, hence my question. I didn’t mention weight or grades my friend asked me this question. He will run what he wants regardless of what I tell him probably. All I asked was that simple question.

I run that same oil in my 2005 Silverado and 1976 350 v8 Oldsmobile. So far both run like new while the 2013 Hyundai that I stuck to thinner oils to prevent warranty issues is currently awaiting it's new engine at 94k miles.

That’s pretty cool that a older carb’s engine likes the European oil 👍🇨🇦

I use low saps Euro oil on most of my vehicles. The 504/507 and my DPF's require it. Don't think it harms non particulate filter vehicles and has stout specifications. In your buddies case. Whatever Euro on sale at walmart in whatever viscosity he prefers. He won't need that expensive 504/507 in his vehicle.

I run M1 0W-40 in my 2010 Mazda MZR 2.5 after a life of mostly AFE 0W-20 and mixed 5W-20. I have 150k and it burns no oil.

I was still running PUP 0w20 in my 2012 Fusion when I sold it at 137+k. Didn’t even use an ounce over a 17k OCI. Those engines are probably among one of the best, most durable ever built. About the only thing you’ll ever hear is a leaky VC gasket, and it’s usually just where the front cover mates with the block at the VC gasket surface.
