Does anyone use Quaker State Ultimate Durability for more than 10,000 miles? I know it does not clean as well as others but i like it better than the pennzoil platinum because i think the PP is blended on the thin side.

Yes, I run my 2007 Mercury Milan with QSUD. Run it for about 12,500 highway miles between oil changes. Internals that you can see (mostly timing chain) still look as clean as the day I got it.

Drain length is highly dependant on operating conditions and application. Most naturally aspirated 4 cylinders are typically very easy on oil while whereas direct injection or turbo engines or both can be harsher on the oil.

Just to make sure there isn't any confusion. QSUD does clean, and is good at it, it just doesn't advertise having the best cleaning abilities like some other oils might.

Overall QSUD is an excellent oil and nobody should have any hesitations to use it. Now as for your question regarding using it for 10k miles, I'd say if other oils could do it, then QSUD can do it too. However, I'd need to know more about your vehicle and its use before I'd feel confident saying any oil could go 10k miles in it.

Didn't the last PQIA VOA show PP and QSUD as being the same in every (i.e: of what was measured) aspect?

I'm seriously contemplating running it in my new Cruze. I've never had a vehicle new enough to warrant the use of synthetic, so I haven't used it personally. It's supposed to have an impressive add pack. I'd trust it for the above mentioned mileage.

Hey crazyoildude – We appreciate you choosing Quaker State for your engine! Rest assured that Quaker State Ultimate Durability Full Synthetic motor oil is formulated to meet the oil change intervals required by today’s engine OEMs which means it has great engine-cleaning capabilities. With that said, we always recommend that you follow the oil change interval recommended by your OEM since they designed, developed, and manufactured the engine. Hope this helps! - The Quaker State Team
