Reason I ask is that a friend of mine that traps and collects scrap and has tons of newspapers for starting fires had one of these. He said it works good. I remember watching the informorcial on it in the 90’s. Dunno if I’d use it though.

Yes but newspapers have ink. Probably soy ink but still. Maybe ok but I would use wood! Hahahaha
It actually worked pretty good!
My brother bought one in the early 90's. We used it several times. It really did make a decent burger.
Bet it would make a good steak with lots of newspaper burned
