The SE line is a great option for people who want a smart phone and don't care for the latest and greatest.I've never bought the newest phone. I just can't justify the price. Still plenty happy with my iPhone SE3
After a year, my 16 Pro is down to 98% max capacity.I've found that my phones start to glitch at about the 3 year mark. Sometimes the GPS fails, or the WiFi, or some other feature. Replacing the phone via a trade in program is often a wise move for me. I'm currently using a 15 Pro Max. It's been great, but it is also 2 years old and the battery has degraded to 90%, not terrible, but it sometimes dies before the end of the day now.
I'll wait and see what kind of deal Costco comes up with. They generally have an upgrade program a month or two after product launch.
I got my 16 in October 2024 and my battery health is still 100%After a year, my 16 Pro is down to 98% max capacity.
oilBabe's mom is fortunate as oilBabe just had her 15 Pro Max replaced by Apple. She dropped it in Alaska and AppleCare+ replaced the phone for $29. A new phone with 100% battery capacity.
Even the 12 Pro I have is still at 81% life. My 15 Pro is at 89% IIRC.
The new SE pretty much hits all the important features with better battery life too. Sometimes it's not even about the money vs simplicity at reasonable cost. Sounds contradictive but not really, every one buys certain things on perceived value in what something is worth to them. Example for me, sometimes I think about the Apple Pro's but for me it doesnt do much. In fact my 15plus screen is bigger than the Pro. I would have to go to a Pro Max which doesnt add anything for me personally except bulk. The SE line is a great option for people who want a smart phone and don't care for the latest and greatest.
In case you didn't see my longer post, if there's an Apple Store near you, get a new battery for $89. The health needs to be 79 or below. They'll install it and it'll be like having a brand new iPhone 11. In my experience battery health below 80 gets frustrating quickly. The $1000 will go toward upgrading my 2017 desktop and I'll hold on to my "exciting" 11 series. Does everything I need it to and battery health at 80%. Maybe I'll pick up a 21 when they come out.
When our phones start to act wonky, I plug them into a computer and do a full backup and restore from backup. It fixes a lot of stuff.I've found that my phones start to glitch at about the 3 year mark. Sometimes the GPS fails, or the WiFi, or some other feature. oilBabe has had one since the first one came out.I have had iphone's since 3 I think (replaced blackberry). Always company phones so no choice.
I have a Samsung Android tablet. Kid #2 has a pixel (she is in her masters for compsi - where no kid would show up dead with an iphone). I would not have a iphone if I had a choice, I would have the new Pixel.
Bought wife Iphone 15 not long ago. iPhone is good hardware, and probably better for non techy types who just want things to work. Android is far more flexible at 1/2 the price.
To each their own. I will say these new camera's on all of them are pretty impressive.
We went the other way. Got the wife a Android when I still had the crackberry. Then we got the kids a ipad, and switched mom to iphone so everything would be consistent. Then my work switched to iphone and we were an apple family including all the kids until Daughter 2 switched to Android again.oilBabe has had one since the first one came out.
We were lucky that instead of having to take the special iPhone data plan from AT&T, we were able to use the same plan her Treo was on. So no plan change, just a new device.
I was issued either a Treo or Android device until the iPhone 7 series came out. My employer transitioned to iPhone then and I've been sucked in, LOL
I originally dreaded the idea of having to switch all of my cables because of that change but in the end it wasn’t a big deal. I ordered most of the cables from Amazon and it didn’t cost much at all.I currently have the 15 Pro and I am not sure if I am going to end up getting the 17 Pro or waiting for the 18 series to come out. I think the back is kind of ugly and mocks Android too much now. And I still hold a grudge to Apple for switching to USB-C but still beats the quality and operating system of Android.
