anyone care to do the math for me?

People love 'em.

Lease a Bolt and charge at work.
Commuter lane. All good.

You really have to calculate what the cost of charging is for the climate you're in. We live in relatively mild climate, but the PG&E rates are set to increase yet again. Without solar, I would not be owning one.

If it were me, I'd go with the Accord. I have the new Accord with the 1.5. Considering 90% of my driving is city, I wish I'd gone with the hybrid honestly.

thanks for this info. I have a strong hate for anything Toyota but that is a long story. based on online prices the difference is a little over $1,000 for the Accord so i am researching it. the fuel savings alone is half the cost of the car payment so i need to verify it actually gets 48 mpg and its not some inflated wishing figure.

I'll verify it for you.
Lifetime average for my Accord Hybrid is 48.1 mpg per the car's computer, which is conservative, so probably more like 49 and change after 16K or so.
With warmer weather and lower RVP fuel, I've seen many tanks of 50 mpg+, although the last tank required 12.8 gallon in only 637 miles for 49.8 mpg, probably because it was beastly hot and humid so the AC was on full time.
Worst winter tank was a shade under 38 mpg while the best spring tank was a shade under 58 mpg.

Now I really wish I got one, I get around 30mpg in the city (which is my entire commute, it's dreadful). The heat is factor though, especially here in FL. But at any rate, I would surely exceed 30mpg with a hybrid. It'll be a strong consideration on my next vehicle.

my commute is 4 miles city then 20 miles highway then 4-5 miles city. I really do think i would greatly benefit from a Accord Hybrid.

thanks fdcg27 for the real world numbers.

and as far as depreciation Honda's have always had great resale in my area besides I am the type to buy a vehicle and keeps it until it dies. I still have a 99 Malibu i bought in 2000 and its still going strong. about to pass it on to my daughter for her first car.
