"I was told by a reputable source that Harley oil is no longer being produced by Citco although I am told it is still bottled by them. The contract now belongs to Quaker state which is worse in my opionin. Although it is made to Harley specs."

You can be sure if it was Quaker State, Shell would be doing the bottling, not CITGO. I've heard nothing about this rumor, but I will check it out. What Shell should do is bring their Advanced line of motorcycle oils to this country.

When I was overseas I used Shell Ultra Advance or Advance Ultra something like that. I and the bike were very happy with it.
If Halrey needs/wants a new oil supplier I vote for Brad Penn may as well use an American oil supplier. IMO
No matter who is is you know HD will over price it.

Isn't it good to go away from Hugo Chavez oil? That goes against the whole HD being American made doesn't it.

Tmorris1, Harley isn't "American Made". It's assembled and put together in the Northern Hemisphere, but, somewhere in the neighborhood of 20% of the parts are made in countries other than the USA. Back in 1992, the last time I saw the Percentage stated by Harley, I believe it was 17%....I asked because I saw "Made in Finland" on my taillight cover.

Actually, if you think about it, having parts made in other countries is very "American", as the average "American" is a conglomeration of lots of different nationalities and races. BTW, I don't like the term, "American", because it ignores the rest of those in North America that aren't US citizens, it ignores Central and South Americans, and it ignores the Native American Indian...the only "TRUE" Americans in the USA.

Compared to the Native Americans, everyone else is a foreigner. B~)

Whether it's Hugo Chavez, Iranians, Saudis, Egyptians, Canadians...we get oil from them all...I have no loyalties to Brad Penn, although the oil coming from that company is stellar, therefore, I'd choose it.

I didn't mean to start a big deep discussion on what an American is, I was kind of being a wise guy about it all. I guess anyone can think whatever they want about who an "American" is. My point was that most of the guys that ride Harleys are stereotyped as the leather wearing flag wavers (nothing wrong with that , so don't start in about that either anyone.), and Hugo Chavez is one of the biggest anti USA people besides Al Queda.

I agree many "Harley People" are "Made in America" sterotyped crazies. Many bikers are very much "be an individual" types, too...but, if you look at 100 pictures of groups of bikers...they somehow all look so similar! I also avoid Citgo due to Hugo...although I'm not sure my avoidance of Citgo is appropriate. I do know I don't hurt Hugo by using someone else's fuel, but, I do feel better about not using Citgo. Even otherwise rational people aren't always rational...at least I realize it in myself.

I do like to point out a Made in Finland stamp, or other stamp, on someone with a Harley if they happen to be too rabid about being "Made in America". It usually takes the wind out of their sails very quickly. Some even turn red and get speechless. It's cheap fun! Not all Harley riders have this attitude, though, in fact, most don't...they just happen to like the Harley they have, and that's great!

Hugo is not Anti-USA, only Anti USA Current Govt. Not defending him, but its our Govt in operation he doesnt care for, not Americans in general.

It is a good thing to buy american made products but "Made in America" is mostly used as a marketing thing. If you look closely even some the raw materials are imported in some cases. If most wants to buy American goods then most should not use oil products which 60% is imported. And those countries and individual groups are only against Americal government and its policies imo.
