Mom has a bad habit with getting flats. I want to get her a roadside assistance plan. Like many older folks her tech prowess is not too great coupled with her language issues I would like to find one that is touch a app and with gps know where she is so they can come help her .

Is there such an animal?

Frail, unable to break the lug nuts free, unable to pick up blown wheel or spare, car may not have come with a spare like a lot of cars nowadays, etc.

The AAA membership includes an iPhone app that a stranded motorist uses to send location. I've never used it. You might be able to download the app and see if it's compatible with her phone before signing up.

AARP also has a similar phone app for motorists.

It has already been stated that she cannot change the tire. The original question remains.

Simplicity is key here. It would be helpful to know if she has a smartphone. She should. A simple call to you could start the process as you could contact the service provider. If she can call then better yet.

Smartphones can be set to show location to others. This might be a good idea if she is not good in giving locations. You could know where she is by checking your phone.

AAA and possibly the manufacturer app. Mazda and I'm pretty sure GM (via OnStar) app both have gps location ability. Not sure what she drives but that may be an option.

My mom is 80 YO Asian woman driving a CRV. i am not letting her change a tire. i can pay for roadside service. She has a iphone ,but barely knows how to use it. i want her to be able to press a app and call someone to come change a tire etc in case i am not available.

Thanks for the AAA suggestion. i will look it up.

Well to be fair, when you call someone, you have to sit there and wait for them to show up. The longer you're on the side of the road, the more dangerous it is as drunk drivers tend to be attracted to whatever is on the side of the road. They just stare at whatever is on the side of the road and end up steering into whatever they're looking at.

If a roadside service doesn't fit the bill, check out Consumer Cellular (or similar providers for Sr's). Consumer Cellular has a phone with a big button to press that instantly connects to a call ctr. that can dispatch emergency services and roadside assistance (like if Mom got lost) to wherever she's at using the phones built in GPS.

Fwiw, many auto insurers (Progressive for example) have apps that can geo locate your position and dispatch roadside assistance if you have signed up for it. In some cases, like Allstate, you don't even need to be signed up.. you just pay per service with a pre negotiated price by Allstate.

Folks the OP asked a question.

That question was not life lessons for teenagers or theories of muscle strength.

Or dragging it off topic to bicker
