I ask this question because I am still finding a ton of the Yugos with matching numbers for about 250-300 bucks. (Just a few years ago these guns were 125-200 bucks all day long) I have bought several with the aim of never firing them, but to hold on to them and maybe reap the rewards later when there is more gun control levied upon us by the dems. I do have one that I cleaned up and use for plinking, but the rest of them are still packed in cosmoline and stored correctly.

Do you guys think a guy could make a nice little profit down the road, or is there still just too many quality SKS and other variant mil surp rifles in existence to ever justify your guns going up in value long term?

Cheapest I ever saw looked like they were picked up off a actual battlefield (dirty, dented, dinged, stained, and rusty), dipped in cosmoline, and packed in shipping crates. Guy at gunshow would hand you a wad of papertowels and allow you to take your pick for $79.95.

Wish I'd bought a few cases!

Me too! More than that, I wish I would have bought up a ton more ammo even as recently as 2-3 years ago as the price of ammo has skyrocketed over the past couple years.

Me three!

I still remember my ex GFs facial expression when I came home from a gun show with 5K rounds of 9mm and 6K rounds of 762x39 about 7 or 8 years ago. I am quite positive I got em for $69 per thousand since I bought more than 10K.

I know I am going to be in for a shock next time I go to buy.

SKS's are just plain fun to shoot. I've got several. But, really the one's to get are the Russian ones. The Chinese are really junky, not sure about the others. If you compare a Russian to a Chinese it's obvious. Plus, the Russians invented it and you have a better shot gaining value with a Russian SKS.

I have 5 of them!!! Where can one get a full flege battle rifle for just under a couple hundred bucks. Chinese or Russian who cares! If it goes bang then that for me.

I have had good luck finding the Yugoslavian Model 59/66. I have only three now, but will be adding to the collection. Like to get a dozen and go on to collecting something else. They are great little rifles, and for the price you really can't beat em'. I have as much fun with my SKS for 250 bucks as I do with my Mini-14 @ 579 bucks.

I have one of the Russian ones made at the Thule arsenal in 1955. When I got it, it was still in Cosmoline (or the Russian equivilant), looked like it had been test fired and put into storage. Think I'll hang on to it awhile longer.

oh my goodness, all of you gun nuts have assault rifles and haven't robbed 40 banks? lol

As to the original question there is some logic in thinking an sks may gain value if Clinton or Barak is elected. I would sell shortly after the election as none of their gun control measures would ever get passed.

With the Democrats controlling everything in Washington , you most certainly could expect some kind of anti gun or ammo legislation to appear . Count on it .

I had a very, very, early one. Chinese, but right after the Russians gave them the tooling.
All milled, and unbreakable. The bolt was the hardest stuff I've seen. A file would not mar it. The serial numbers were odd, and no one could identify it for sure.
Sold it to my pastor, and may buy it back.
FUN!

I doubt collecting sks rifles would ever amount to much. No matter how nice or how [censored] ~200 is all sks's sell for around here. It is hard to earn a profit on anything that was made in the millions of units.
