ive always been on the lighter side of oci's but this yr i plan to run oil close to its "peak" happpy new yr!

I was thinking about switching to synthetic and longer drains now that I'm out of warranty but at the rate the darn car seems to be burning oil now I'll have to see if I can somehow curb that problem first!

Yes.

I resolve to continue to change my oil twice a year with inexpensive conventional oil. A regiment that has served me well for more than 4 decades.

I resolve not to get caught up in the "BITOG oil flavor of the month" fad, and continue to use what I've been using-whatever is the least expensive that meets the vehicle needs.

I resolve not to have an oil "stash" because I have places to invest my money that yield a far better return than a hedge against a slight rise in oil prices does.

I resolve not to use any additives like Marvel Mystery Oil, because I've never had a lubrication related failure with oil alone. I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I resolve not to pretend that I have a working "butt dyno", and that I resolve to continue to believe that there isn't any discernable difference in the smoothness of any of my vehicles when I change the oil.

I'm switching to synthetics and plan to slowly go from 3-5k oci to hopefully 7.5-10k. Picked up some Pennz Ultra and will be using it for the first time next oil change.

I resolve to stick to Castrol Edge, for my Jeep and E-150, not spend any money on UOA, continue my current OCI, and do what has been working for me since the 1970's. I will continue using my short list of favorite additives as I see fit. Should something new catch my interest I will look into it and try it if I think it can benefit me in anyway.

1)Keep running expensive synthetics.

2)When it comes Spring,I'm throwing the FRAM oil filter on my girfriends Crown Vic over the state line.

I dont run junk, period.Whether it's oil or whatever,it doesnt last long with me.

Mine was to quit obsessing about oil. The fact that I'm on the site posting today should tell you how I'm doing. I did go work out today so all resolutions are not lost.

Since I purchase in bulk.....I will supplement my Vehicle Maintenance Log with a digital photo of the oil, oil filter, license plate, odometer and calendar. Hopefully, include all the above in two photos that I will print and file in my log. In the future, I don't ever want any debate with a manufacturer over the maintenance on a warranty item.

If nothing else, the photos ought to make for some fun conversation when my grandchildren are in their 40's.....discussing the hassles of plugging in their electric cars!!!!

I am going to try and change the oil at least as often as the vehicle manufacturer requires, which is not something I am good at.
