The trial is heating up, they stopped the proceedings because the prosecution attorney was laughing while the defense lawyer was making his closing arguments, ah its better then csi on tv.

Jose Baez reminds me of Inspector Clousea aka the Pink Panther who comes off as a bumbling idiot but is sly as a fox. Jeff Ashton should be reprimanded and found in contempt.

I've been watching it all day, and mentioned to my wife Ashton should wipe the smirk off his face. He did great in closing, then screwed up with the stupid looks on his face. Both attorneys are probably getting reamed as I type this Baez was antagonizing Ashton.

Either way I hope Casey fries for killing that beautiful child!

She's certainly a messed up young woman. The whole family appears to have some issues as well. But....has the prosecution proved 'beyond a reasonable doubt' that she murdered her child? Regardless of how horrible her actions were after her daughter had become missing, including all the lies, the partying, and narcissistic behavior.....I would have to say that there is not enough evidence here to have her convicted of murder. Just my opinion though. It's quite possible (and MAYBE even probable) that she did it however. But enough proof to convict and a possible death penalty? Not in my mind.

Not in my mind. But, I do think she caused the death of her daughter, whether it was intentional or not. Like most deaths unlawfully caused by another person, we will most likely never discover what really happened in this case.

I agree. In a court of law it's about what can be proved through fact finding and presenting of evidence. I don't think the prosecution has proved a credible motive. I think it a sad state that the whole family has been shown to be a pack of liars. I think the state has a strong case but the reach to first degree murder is a stretch. It's no doubt Casey knew her daughter was dead and she hid her daughter's body but I don't see it proven that she planned to murder her daughter.
Interesting jousting between lawyers though. The defense is hindered by limited resources but there is certainly questions of the states gathering of evidence and their biasness.

I agree with Andrewg. Although I am puzzled why this case gets so much coverage and is not any more henious than some crimes, even less than alot I can recall involving children. There simply is no concrete proof and alot of lack of evidences. Although the majority of people have convicted her and sentenced her, through a thought of some sort of justice to the small child, I see a lack of evidence and a total abuse of police to try to make it happen. I dont see any concrete evidence, that without a reasonable doubt that she alone committed the crime and not only that, I think the public and the police painted her into a corner that even if a killer did confess, no one would believe them at this point, so much for a fair judical system. This would be a true test in my mind.

Because she is a caucasian female from a nice all American family.

If she was a so called 'minority' this case would have zero coverage.
We need to pray for that unfortunate murdered child.

Well she lied to the cops, then went partying for 30 days, then reports the baby missing, hmmm. Someone is guilty, or maybe the whole immediate family is guilty, it will be Monday for a verdict now.
All in all, family members have destroyed their daily lives forever and if the have neighbors now, they probably wont be good buddies with them. Lots to process here and like the OJ trial, a real Law School case to study for years to come.

It is unbelievable that it has been on TV for so long. How much money made and wasted on this?

Chemically sterilize the girl, throw her in the slammer for a few and call it a day.

And if she gets a reality show a few years from now, tax her at 98%.

I grew up in Savannah,GA and I still HATE the sound of that woman's voice.

Maybe it's the smugness.

I don't know. I can tolerate the sound of Paula Deen so it's not the accent. (Again, I grew up in Savannah. I lost the accent a long time ago...I don't know why these women can't.)

Perfect.

It seems pretty clear that it was an accident and covered up by the crazy mom ,but to have your mother and father perjure themselves to create reasonable doubt is a new twist to the American justice system.

Based on all the lies and attempted cover up, I hope she gets 5-20 for wasting valuable police and court time.
