Yea yea, i know i know. But i have been reading mixed results about Mobil 1. And i plan to keep this truck for a long time. I am sometimes hard on the engine when im feeling spirited and every once in a blue moon ill take it to the drag strip. But for the most part i take really good care of her. I baby it a lot cause im not getting any younger :)

I have been using Mobil 1 for one year. Since i got the truck. I believe its what was in it when i bought it. Im not dedicated to synthetic, but i wasnt sure if it was preffered over dino.

I live in the pacific northwest. Portland area actually. So it gets a little bit hot in the summer and a little bit cold in the winter. Nothing too drastic.

Im not asking what oil is the best cause im sure it depends on your area, driving habbits, climate, engine....etc. And im sure everyone has thier own opinions on what is the best. But i am wondering what is 'better' for 'my' truck than Mobil 1. Or should i just stick with it. Oh yea, i use the OEM filters(Denso) that the dealer carries. Mainly because no one in this area sells Pure ones.

My X-Runner has the 4.0L V6. My mods to the vehicle are listed in my sig. Currently the truck has 53k miles on it. I was hoping people would chime in and tell me what they think.

Thank you for your time :)

I never used M1 to comment on it's performance. I have used reg. Pennzoil, Platinum and Ultra with no issues. I run at the track many many times during the summer in the Regal. I am currently very pleased with Ultra. Maybe give Ultra a shot and see. You should be able to tell if you like it since you have used M1 for a year.

Do a UOA on the M1 at your next oil change. Then do the same interval on your choice of PP or PU or EDGE or GC, and do another UOA. Then decide which one you like best based on the UOAs, and based on how the engine sounds (especially for the first 30 sec. after startup), and based on how well the truck seems to perform.

Then post your results and conclusions.

OR, if you just want my opinion, go with PP or GC.

I lot of guys here will have you switching to a differant oil ever oil change. I've used M1 oils for 32 years and have found it to be outstanding with 10K OCIs.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

To answer one question, i am only thinking of 5k OCI's. Any longer and i start getting paranoid. And its the recommended interval from the manufacturer as well as a handy built in reminder. The ECU will flash a 'Maint. Required' light on the dash every 5k miles. And i can reset it every change...

Someone mentioned GC. Which is that?

I dont mind trying different things but i dont want to switch every OCI. What about filters? I think the OEM should be ok, but some critisize them for not having end caps.

Anyways, i was just wondering if there was something out there that would better suit my needs. Not that i am unhappy with M1, but was just curious...

GC is German Castrol a nickname for the 0w30 synthetic oil. It is made in Germany where the other Castrol is not. Pureone filters are better than the Thailand oil filters of Toyota.

well Joe's closed down from bankruptcy(i know they had them). And sears said they didnt have them. I think there is a bimart but i dont have the membership card they require. The others are nowhere around these here parts
