Another sloppy glue oil filter, motorcraft fl500s

Absolutely, I've always done my oil changes and I have always used the orange can of death up until 10 or 15 years ago, when I bought my first ford f150 5.4 2v and was told not to use fram orange can of death and ford denying warrenty claims, since then I have mostly used fl820s and fl500s for all the f150 that I bought, prior to that fram ph series has never let me down. I'll be staying away from motorcraft for now. Wix it is for now that's the xp series.

The last fl500s I cut open was just like this. Sloppy glue job and it was lose and floating around on the dirty side of the filter. Luckily it didn’t clog anything but it was alarming. It was put on by a ford dealership. I don’t see any use to use motorcraft oil filters. Except for the new line of them which was posted on here. The fl500s equivalent is the fl2121b12 and I would trust it much more then the purolator made motorcrafts. Or just move to a fram filter. I’m currently using the tg10575 on my gen 3 coyote. Here’s the one I cut open that had glue all over. https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/motorcraft-fl500s-excess-glue.365706/

Just got off the phone with the ford dealership that I bought that filter from, that new filter is a replacement for the fl500s, I told them of my filter problem, they will give me a new filter and oil 👍 they do not stock the new replacement filter but will order one in for me.

This replacement filter according to the pics online looks to have a dome end bypass ?

Fl500s replacement ?
Yes ... and yes, it has a dome end bypass instead of the base plate bypass. Guess Ford doesn't care about that anymore.

There is a PDF link in the thread below which shows the new construction of these "replacement" Motorcraft filters.

At ford dealership, giving me replacement fl500s and oil warranty 👍

This filter appears to be a lot better less glue, albeit it's unused

Apparently not. Does that mean it was never that important? Still wondering if those replacement applications a permanent move, or something temporary.

Replacement FL500S looks fine, like it should be. Nice of dealership to try to make it right. In my experience, doesn't happen every day.

I wonder if ford is having issues with the fl500s ? They coughed up the new filter and oil with no resistance at all, funny how there is a replacement for the fl500s, when the parts guy checked on the fl2121b12 replacement for the fl500s there is no stock in British Columbia, lots of them in-stock in Alberta, so I have one coming in a couple days, I'll try and weasel an extra one to cut open.
