Why did the AutoRX cleaning mileage go from 500 to 1500??? I understand it used to recommend 500 miles cleaning and now it says 1500, just curious. Was it because it is reformulated or just better results with more miles?

Auto-Rx is trying to simplify the instructions. Some vehicles responded better at the 1500 mile mark, so the decision was to use that as the mileage for all vehicles. Same formula.

My two cents. I think that they also assumed most people would be using a dino oil for the cleaning cycle and realized that if a synthetic was used it took much longer to do the job. Back then also there was no rinse cycle (dino mandated in this phase) and I think they realized that (like the manufacturers recommendeding 3000 mile oil changes) better to play it safe and do the job then have complaints about it not working.
