It is an Amsoil only warehouse operation. I assumed they called it a distribution center/distributor.

It is located on N. Orange Blossom Trail and is the place referred to here:

If you're picking it up at the distribution center ..how is he charging you S&H

Now if the stuff is shipped out of the distribution center ...even across town, you're paying the freight. The costs are neutralized across the nation. That is, whether you buy something from Pablo or myself ..there's no "location advantage" for any customer in the lower 48. I pay the same S&H for stuff shipped from the Lancaster, PA DC (about 50 miles) as someone getting it delivered in Maine or wherever.

We do have a distributor here in Orlando and he does charge "freight". It's probably computed on a per weight basis, but I'm not sure.

Last I purchased maybe 20qts of XL, 4 other quarts (gear oil+2cycle) along with various filters totalling 200 dollars. I think "freight" was less than 20 dollars of the total.

LOL...I do 6 months there and 6 months in the US of A. And yes there is a Amsoil distributor in GeorgeTown :) And when did the XL series become full synthetic?

I have been using the 5w20 XL for 33k in my gf's 07 3.7 Nitro. I guess I have my head up my #$&, or just plain did not do my homework (most likely both). I did think that the XL was a full synthetic, which is why I paid close to six dollars a quart over several cases. Regardless of what the wear numbers show and how the product holds up, there is no way in *&$# that I will continue to pay this price for a semi syn oil. I just ran my last OCI of SSO in the 4Runner which is a solid product, no doubt. However, aligned with the times is my need to be scrupulous and wise about the $ I spend. The 7 cases of Valvoline Synpower @ $6.00 a case will be the oil that I turn to for the near future.

I don't wish to answer for anyone, esp Pablo, but it is a "full synthetic" in the same way as is Pennzoil Platinum.

It's Group III AFAIK and it does fine by my RX8 and now in my Mazda3.

I wish it were HTO-06 qualified. I'd be putting it my RDX if it were.

I drive up to their loading dock and give them my order (it's done online), the bill includes a freight charge. They put it on the end of the dock, I suppose that's where the freight charge comes from, lol.

It's not what shipped to my door would cost, but it isn't zero either. IIRC it was something like 16 dollars total on that 200 dollar bill.

It's not a "semi" synth. It's the only Group III that Amsoil sells. It's as synthetic as a multitude of "synthetic" products on the market.

If it was somewhat recent (as in since energy got rather seriously high) ..then it would be an energy surcharge. It was easier then redoing all the pricing again ..and again ..and again in a short period of time. You'll pay your state taxes ..but beyond that ..zip.

That makes sense. It may have been that. I was scratching my head a little when reviewing the printed bill and seeing "freight" listed as a charge. I thought at the time it was a charge for shipping 2 filters they didn't have in stock. I don't recall seeing a separate %5 fuel surcharge. Having said that, the "freight" charge was not %5 of the bill total, it was a bit less, but that may have been because of the 2 filters not received at that time.

It makes more sense that you said that because I believe I also received charges when the filters were actually shipped from UPS. They totaled another 16 dollars IIRC.

You've got a mixed situation that I've never encountered before. I've only picked up at the warehouse once. This was pre-energy surcharge evolutions.

But on all of my shipments ..to anyone ..even if the shipment was "split" with back ordered or "drop shipped" (where the part is directly shipped from the supplier instead of from Amsoil - hard parts), the S&H charge was the same. I assume that's why there's some indirect baseline buffering to the charge.

In any event, when this occurs next time, I'd surely appreciate it if you nailed down where the fee is coming from with the warehouse people.

For all we know ..it's a local annoyance charge for not calling in your order before hand that the local yocal is putting in there under otherwise legit notations (unlikely - but I've seen it elsewhere = NOT AMSOIL - just other places that think "they deserve" ).

lol, perhaps it's just a general annoyance charge, but I did one of two things. I either called it in directly to Amsoil or I simply ordered it online. I didn't even have to show them a credit card, just an order number. I've picked up orders there on 3 separate occasions and in each case, I either phoned it in to Amsoil or I placed the order on the internet.

I'll definitely be aware of it next time, which is coming up, because one of the reasons (obviously) that I pick it up there is to avoid the shipping charges, and if they don't have it in stock and require that I pay shipping, I'd prefer to buy it elsewhere.

Somehow this reminds me of Amsoil in a weird way, i could be wrong though. Good vid anyhow. No wonder im a Slick 50 advocate. People love their bee ess.

In many respects, it is. It's not for everyone, and I surely wouldn't want to sell it to anyone who cannot truly perceive benefit from it.

..but what I'm asking is "what's your point?". I can't see the connection. If you have a criticism of Amsoil ..about anything ..I have no problem with you expressing it. I'd like to be able to respond to it ..but I'm having trouble in this instance.

Pablo and I take it on the chin daily ...what's one more hit
