When this website starts touting 10,000 mile oil changes the thought which comes to mind is contamination, sludge, etc. I have flashbacks of all these internet mechanics showing blown engines where its clear the oil was not changed timely.

So I came upon this video where a man says his fleet business Ford Transit Connect with 82000 miles that has been changed every 10000 miles with Amsoil is super clean! He opens the engine and reveals nothing but a clean cam/chain and interior engine area. This really has my eyes open and changes my attitude. I guess you just have to have a certain oil to do the 10,000 mile changes otherwise it wont work. I dont think I would trust SuperTech 10,000 mile oil changes...that one more for the 5000 mile variety. However we can put our faith in the Amsoil Signature Series!

In other words no other motor oil is capable of doing this, only Amsoil SS!!!
Amsoil has three others which are XL, High Mileage and OEM as well as European and other varieties. Im not sure if they are capable of doing this, but as I stated in another thread I would stick with Signature Series. Of course there is Amsoil's competition which is Redline, HPL and Royal Purple. Honestly Im not too crazy about Royal Purple. I would be curious to see different engines opened up that have religiously used these oils to compare.

In this video this is a work van with 82000 miles and Amsoil has been the only oil used besides the oil the truck came with new. The person who made the video was doing some comparison with Valvoline Restore and Protect and I guess thats why he made the video.

The video gives me confidence that an extended drain oil interval is safe to do. Please feel free to upload your videos of opened engines of the competition.

I am not going to watch the Video because now we know that there are more important things than a clean Valvetrain. Before I came to BITOG there was an Amsoil Salesman near me that sang the praise of a 1-year OCI. This engine lasted until about 396,000 miles and then it needed a rebuild. The internals from the pictures were clean as a whistle, he was a nice guy, and he was putting on about 13K a year. Somewhere after 300K he started using a lot of oil, all he said was the engine started using oil like crazy. Never saw any pics of the Piston Rings, we are now high on piston rings being clean or having no deposits.

I will watch the Video and keep everyone Happy. LOL

In another recent thread I participated in there was talk of the existence of Amsoil haters and if they exist stuff like this is why.

I feel like the mere mention of anything related to the Amsoil brand is synonymous with the notion of a sales pitch that we know is coming but we can't escape it. If Grant Cardone was a motor oil he would be Amsoil.

I don't even dislike the brand or their products, just the cult-like mentality surrounding them.

Engine design and driving conditions matter the most for oil change intervals.
This. I'm pretty sure it's diminishing returns these days when it comes to oil performance when you A-B test any synthetic oil that meets spec in any reasonable fashion. If you're having to rely on oil brand to maintain performance, you're likely pushing your equipment too hard.

You can see some varnish starting to form. Keep in mind this is the XL oil too. Overall 9/10. 😁

So, hundreds of posts on BITOG, with pictures, showing a clean engine means nothing to you.

But one YouTube video of one engine opened your eyes?
