What is the best way to use this to clean out intake and engine? Follow the instructions on that can, or do something else?

i havent tried it yet..but i think following the instructions on the bottle is fine. ill try mine in 2900 miles before my next oil change

This is a very effective and pernicious cleaner and super in the intake horn and as a degreaser. It will deplete the oil once it work down into the crankcase so change the oil within a few thousand miles of using that way.

I highly recommend this product and have used it over the years with great results.

How difficult is this to do? As I'm always interested in cleaning my car's components. I just aren't too sure about this one.

Yes, I'm sure it is good but using the entire can all at once? I'd be worried about oxygen sensors and cats.
