I have a quart of Amsoil interceptor, I do not have any 2-stroke atvs or dirt bikes. I do have several 2-stroke weed trimmers and a chainsaw. Is this ok to run in them? I hate to not use it. I figure it’s ok, but wanted to ask.

I normally buy a quart of royal purple 2-stroke every few years. I like the way it smells.

With my limited use of 2 stroke oils, I have used all of the varying Amsoil oils with no detriment to my equipment. If I remember correctly, Interceptor actually has fairly low flash point, and a super cold flow point, so there should be no issues. I just run my OPE hard before I am done to make sure I got the cylinder temps above the flash point

Plugs are nice and clean.

I will use it. Thank you for the replies, I figured it was ok.

I was concerned with the exhaust stopping up, but I usually run them pretty hard trimming the ditches.

I use Interceptor on all my 2-stroke OPE-- a Tanaka leaf blower & Echo string trimmer. I mix at 40:1, and have had no issues at all using this oil.

Only thing I don't like about it, is there is little or no color to it. When you're done mixing, it's a pale yellow straw color, not unlike the color of fresh unmixed gas. I think this is because it's aimed at injection systems where mixing isn't an issue.

Once or twice I've had to smell the gas to make sure I'm grabbing the right gas container as you can't tell from color alone.

I did see that it has little color, I typically only have one jug for mixed gas. I wonder could you mix a little food coloring in, probably a bad idea.

I will however put a little oil in other things. Like my generator before storage. I use stabil when the winter months come near, but the generator never gets used. So i put a little oil in it. Haven’t cranked in 6 months or so, cracked on first pull.

Ive seen carbs get dried out just about as bad as gas turning bad/green, so i dont drain them anymore. Just try to crank everything ever other month in the off season.

So which is the preferred/ better oil for ope? I currently sure the saber at 40:1 in my chainsaws- blower and weedeater. I have a high dollar chainsaw, 90cc so whats the best one for ope?

My bet would be Sabre being the better choice, as it's designed for small air cooled 2 strokes. I only ended up with Interceptor because that's all my local store carries. I would have much preferred Sabre for my application.
