Amsoil EAA Cleaning Issue

Hey guys random issue, my friends car has a cone amsoil EAA filter, he had a coolant failure that sprayed coolant all throughout his engine bay covering his EAA with green coolant.

Its dried in and the amsoil website says just to "Tap or vacuum" the dirt out...well thats not going to work.

Think its safe to submerge the filter in a water solutin? Or even a very think degreaser\water solution?

I think mine (Amsoil EAA Conical filter) said you could use Warm Soapy Water if needed but just let it dry thoroughly before using.

Check with Gary or Pablo on this though...

I would be hesitant to dunk or otherwise hose off an EaA.

They can get wet and survive, but I don't know about about actually washing it, in fact I do know - not recommended.

Covered in coolant - to the point of soaking? Sounds like you have three (basic) options:

1) Replace it - it sucks, but dang coolant failure isn't the AF's fault.
2) Leave the coolant in place. Hmm....I have no idea if this effects the filter material, but I'm thinking not so good.
3) Lightly mist it with a spray bottle of water, to begin re-hydrating the dried coolant, repeat before it dries....LIGHTLY GENTLY dab with paper towel, keep repeating to blot up the coolant - allow to thoroughly dry and then vacuum.

I haven't consulted Amsoil Tech.

Pable we did a bad thing...haha.

We took the filter, and a drop or two of dish soap, filled it with warm water and let the filter soak for about 30 minutes.

Completely sugmerged.

We rinsed it out and set it in the sun to dry, it SEEMS ok, but what do I know.

Its not my car, and we cant ask amsoil to warranty the filter because of the coolant failure.

But he really doesnt want to replace the filter as it was less then a week new from time of radiator\cooling system failure.

I spoke with Amsoil Tech. They said as long as their aren't gaps or holes it should be OK.

Check it with a light bulb behind.
