I recently purchased a new Nissan Altima and want to try and maintain it. In looking in the UAO sections I have sensed that good air filtration and how it relates to silicon numbers and how that relates to engine life.

Wanted to get others input on the Amsoil Air filters and their opinions.

Thanks

You know the efficiencies. You've seen the UOAs. What more will opinions tell you about the product? Looking at the "black and white" evidence, it's an outstanding filter.

So it's a good filter. A very good filter. The next question: Will it's high price pay for itself vs another good quality filter? Maybe or maybe not. If you plan on driving your New Altima for 10+ years and 200K miles, then maybe yes. Otherwise, just go with a premium off-the-shelf brand. IMO.

The air filtration system is the primary input for contamination but most of the name brand filter are efficient enough. No matter what filter you buy, I strongly recommend a filter restriction gauge. That will be the number one way to tell that the filter, any filter, needs changing... and they usually can go a LOT farther than you think they can. Most people change/clean filters too often, not letting the filters reach their maximum efficiency nor getting their full money's worth.

You can easily run them for longer then Amsoil claims (100k) if your conditions aren't SEVERE and you clean the filter carefully.

Otherwise, a replacement every 4 years or 100k miles is cost effective, at the end of the day. I have one in my 98 Camry and 06 tC.

Vacuum or gently blow off. No high pressure blowing.

Pablo, I wanted to try an Amsoil Air filter for the 2013 Altima but the company does not stock a replacement. Any ideas when they might begin manufacturing one for the 2.5 engine ?

All you can do is ask and wait. I used to think they went by model popularity but this is not always the case,
