Im planning on doing my 30K maintenance in the next few weeks
and right now, im planning on using Vavoline Maxlife ATF and
doing a complete flush on my 2005 Hyundai Elantra with 29,0000
miles.
Im wondering if a decide to spend the extra and use Amsoil ATF,
will any benefits really be greater that using the Maxlife ATF?

Thanks

Personally, schaeffer's ATF is probably the best out there. There definitely isn't anything better, anyway.

Maxlife is a top end fluid, too.

You have to say WHY if you're going to make statements like that.

I have 30k on my Amsoil flush and in hot and cold my car has shifted better than the factory fill Mazda M-V fluid. Cold is REMARKABLY better and from the specs the Amsoil should hold up better to higher temps.

Others on the Mazda6 forum I frequent have tried Schaeffer's and had nearly identical comments. I think you can't go wrong with either one.

Heck, I'm not even sure what I plan to put into mine....

From those who use it, they like it. My buddy's Mustang runs it, and loves it....

The Amsoil probably has better cold weather performance than the Maxlife ATF but by how much, I don't know. It is a PAO synthetic ATF. I don't know if it is the best but it is one of the best. For your application it might be overkill.

For an ATF, Id be more concerned that the add pack and friction characteristics are correct for the specific application than much anything else.

I agree with you badtlc. Excellent properties and a very affordable price for a premium ATF(7.50/qt locally).

For your inquiry though, Amsoil isn't "hype" I wouldn't say. It's a high quality ATF.

Amsoil ATF is one of the best ATF. If you plan to keep your car for a long time use it with confidence. Exxon Mobil also makes a pretty good full synthetic ATF.

I've had Amsoil ATF (full flush) in my '01 Dakota 2x4 for about 20k miles. I have yet to detect any chatter or harshness on shifts, hot or cold, up or down. The difference in shift quality was very noticable and has not deteriorated since the original AT+4 was replaced (and AT+4 is a good ATF).

I ran a fill of Amsoil to 85K in my Dad's Caravan. I installed a rebuilt trans with Amsoil ATF and a magnifine filter.
When I changed the trans fluid it looked like I could easily have gone 100K on it.

If you are going to run extended drains on the trans it would be a good choice. If you are going shorter I don't think it matters to much.

I have been running Amsoil products for 15 years. Schaeffer's is not something I have ever used but would like to in the future. I would think it would be pretty good as well. Amsoil pretty much pioneered synthetic trans fluid. They started making it in 1980.

Thats exactly what I don't like. For me straight mercon V can't be beat for my applications

why not? I have never heard of a lubrication related failure due to Amsoil Redline or Schaeffer's ATF. All the cars I have put the Amsoil stuff in have shifted better.

What's your point in saying this? Are you saying we shouldn't be using it because the add pack is not spot on to factory specs?

Really, who cares if it's a one size fits all, it's a superior fluid to any FF or OTC product I've ever tried.

I have used M1 ATF in trannys and PS pumps since Mobil came out with the stuff in the early 90s and it has performed great for me. Never a tranny or PS pump failure yet.

I'm sure Amsoil ATF is good stuff, but is it 3 times as good as Maxlife Merc/Dex. If you keep your vehicles to 200=300K it might be. But Maxlife ATF has a done real nice job in the GF's O5 Mercury Mariner. Plus I can't stand Multi-Level marketing.

Now Mr. Tig, don't jinx yourself now

All kidding aside, RP MaxATF is also very good. It may feel a bit sluggish at first if you have a Honda from 0-30mph, but once you need to catch up after about 30 mph, it hits hard just like vtackkk just kicked in

Redline D4 feels quite a margin smoother and less sluggish than RP from 0-30mph, which I like better.

Both are very good in cold weather due to low pour point. Usually I just start and go

, feels better than Z1 or T-IV
