Gas that uses methy alcohol as an oxygenate will degrade engine oil more quickly ....Any oil company will tell you that ....

I have a question about my oxid and nitr levels. Gilberttribe has posted much lower numbers than me using the same testing company, Oil Analyzers. He also has the same motor and similar mileage. His with M1 and 7737k are oxid=6.7,nitr=5.7. Are mine that much higher or are we just getting these in different values? I would think the difference would`t be as great as it is. Any comment or opinion would be welcome, thanks.

Methyl alcohol? Didn't think they use that anymore. Doesn't it tend to degrade seals and plastics? I guess it is used to create MTBE...Is that what you meant? Or did you mean ethanol, and does the same degredation apply to ethanol?
And why...what is the method of degredation?
