Ammo is pouring in

my local GM had about 20 boxes of Rem .40S&W today at $40 per 50 and eight 50-round boxes of Blazer Brass 9mm for $17....I took four and left the rest (2 for me, 2 for my son). PLENTY of .17HMR though as well as most hunting rifle and lots of shotgun....all gauges and shot sizes.

Got my 20 boxes of 9X18 to go with my 20 boxes of 9X18. Hard to accumulate at this rates, but at least I'm moving in the right direction.

I guess my 5 boxes of PMC .223 from Cabela's is due next week.

Still a rip off.

went to Gander, Cabelas, and Wally yesterday and all had nothing. Well, Cabelas had some, but they make you buy a gun first to get it, which is BShizz IMHO.

I figure I'm sitting on a conservative 10K rounds in the big calibers (9,.40,.45,5.56). Been buying a case over what I shoot/year for the past 10 years.

I'm in a happy place...

It's no different than guys that are hoarding ammo for guns they don't own.

but I own those calibers already, and they won't sell it to me. That is lame.

"Hoarding" for a gun you don't own and don't plan on owning is pretty crazy. What? Are they planning on selling it??? Even that's a gamble.

Just picked up some Federal .40 from Palmetto State Armory, still less than 40 cents a round.

They ship for a flat rate of $7.00..... nice! This is my second order with them.

MidwayUSA charges over *twice* that much ($15.36) to ship the same amount of ammo (4 boxes) to me.

I don't understand how a business like MidwayUSA thinks that they will benefit in the long run, with this tactic of gouging people on the shipping and handling charges, in an attempt to make their ammo look cheaper.

I thought that everyone recommended MidwayUSA around here...?

I have a rather modest amount of ammunition now that when I see a box in the wild I'm not ripping it off the shelves. There comes a point when you have so much that it's just silly to keep stockpiling.

Is this directed at me, or at people in general?

i got to thinking. about the survival stockpiling. yes handgun ammunition is useful but how many rounds are you going to use at short range like that? shotgun shells sure. rifle ammo like 308 or 3006 sure. but nobodys gonna carry a pistol and hi tail it on foot thru the trees with 1500 rounds of 9mm in a backpack. hey lets hunt this duck with my 9! yeah! how anout the coyote with my .40! ok.

our local WM is still this way too, you can buy 12 and 20 guage and a few odd size rafle cartridges, but overall its still pretty hard to find ammo in these parts.

I walked into Wallmart today around 7 PM and there was 20 boxes of Federal 115g 9mm sitting on the shelf

Are things getting better or just a lucky day ?

Yes, I wouldn't want to think that you were suggesting on how grown adults should or shouldn't spend their own hard earned money...

I'd say it was good timing.
