In the old 85 3/4 ton chevy, Running valvoline 15w40 right now + A-rx. Need to find something suitable for winter plus a flat tappet cam plus the A-rx rinse phase. Cant find any 10w30 hdeo easily. So I'm thinking about maxlife 5w30, But I'm also thinking that it may not be ok for the A-rx rinse phase. Maybe 5w30 plus some sort of zddp additive like slob or equivalent? I might get by with SL rated 10w40 but that might be pushing it a little in cold weather.

Opinions Please.

10w30 Shell ROTELLA T hdeo is available at most Wal-mart stores. Usually in a gallon jug or by the quart. Might look there if you havent.
You could mix in a quart and a half, or two, with the 5w30,(depending on your capacity, preferabely 2->1 ratio 5w30->15w40) I wouldn't add any additives.

-EDIT- Ha, Camu Mahubah beat me to it.

I use RTS 5w40 in my '85 350 that i use to plow snow with,
runs great on it,keeps it clean too, you don't need
no dang A-rx these engines run clean..

why you use such a thick oil in it?

If I remember correctly from the AutoRx website, any oils with seal enhancers (such as Max Life) should be avoided during the clean/rinse phases. I believe the swelling agents counteracts the seal cleaning of the AutoRx. I think if you want to stay with an HDEO, the 10W30 Rotella is a good bet.

The Maxlife oils are probably a good choice for your truck, but not what you want for a ARX rinse oil. If you can't find Rotella T 10w30 at the local Wally World, check O'Reilly Auto. O'Reilly should be able to get it in a day or so if it's not on the shelf. Also, if you have a Big Lots store nearby, you might want to check if they have any Chevron Supreme 5w30 SL. It would make a nice wintertime rinse oil for your truck.
