I ordered a set of Akebono ACT376 pads and was wondering about the lettering on the pads.

The 4 pads have the letters AK space ACT560H space FF printed on the back side.

I am wondering what the 560H stands for.

What you're looking at is the D.O.T. brake pad edge code.

AK ACT is the manufacturer.
560H is the formulation.
FF is the co-efficient of friction rating.

It is not a model number or anything, so don't be alarmed that it doesn't match the item number for the pad. It is common for multiple different Akebono pads (by item number) to have that same formulation, I've used some Akebono pads with different item numbers that all had that same formulation (560H).

To me, the FF Coefficient of Friction(CoF) is the most important information. I have not liked the braking feel of any of the GG CoF pads that I have installed on vehicles.

Let me add that what I don't like in the GG CoF brake pads it that I have to apply more pedal pressure to achieve the same stopping under what I call, "normalness/everydayness". And too, I don't get the same type of brake bite that I prefer as compared to many OE type brakes which seem to be mostly FF CoF.

Many folks prefer the extra ability of a GG type pad in terms of harder braking while not building up as much heat as an FF pad may incur. However, I've never had that issue with FF pads even when braking hard down hill at higher speeds...under "normalness/everydayness!

If one thinks that they need a better or different brake feel or performance in their vehicle, by all means, change the brakes to what suits you.
