been with comcast forever. been paying $50 a month for 300 mps . all i have is internet through them . to get this price i have to sign a contract for a year . no big deal as i have been wit them for over 30 years and don't intend to change . Every feb my contract renews and i have to call them and talk to some rep to get the special price . last year i did it online . so with few right around the corner, i thought i would check out what the new offering are .

So i noticed i could get 500 for the same price as 300 now. the only difference was i had to link a bank account instead of credit card to get the $10 discount . no big deal . So i did it all online and now i get 500 mps . Tested it on my phone and its 500 . jsut in the few minutes i have used it the internet seems more snappy .

so if you are with comcast , maybe try online and see fi you can get better speeds for the same money

Wonder if quitting them is like quitting a gym membership, LOL.

I had my roadrunner renewed at a teaser rate for a year thanks to a member here.

screw all the cable companies. I am so sick of spectrum (time warner)

but happy day is coming soon. they want 129 for 1000/40

should be able to get 1000/1000 for half that in a few months.

PS spectrum is rolling out synchronous internet speeds by 10/2026.. too late for this guy. I'll likely pay half switching to omni fiber but at this point I'd pay more to ditch spectrum...

They do that too make it look like an act of goodwill but will raise the monthly later.
Yeah it's like offering a free cable modem but then charging rent on it later. They usually do these things in August or December because people are distracted with vacations and holidays.

price is good for a year . i go through this every feb . in the past i always had to call the CS line and ask for it. the last 2 years i was able to find the deal online and buy it .

Cable Fees vary widely. I am now paying 112.00/month (no TV) for 500mbps. There is no high speed competition to Comcast/Xfinity. And yes we have the 1.25TB cap as well.We never reach it-but still. I have T-Mobile phone service-their Internet service is still not available at my address.

You can threaten to cancel and they just basically laugh at you because they know you have zero options.

I should call them...but I don't have many options here, I think just Comcast and At&t. Other providers are trying to break into the area but...local/state politics. Comcast is in bed with IL.

Must be nice. Cox is the only game around here and they freaking suck, especially with data cap at 1.25TB/mo.

Comcast has the same data cap. My coworker somehow got a Comcast contract that states no data cap if you use their modem; no idea how he managed that.

Eww. I have 4 fiber companies within a 25 mile radius of me but none will come into my area because of cox. Ugh it sucks

comcast data cap is 1.2 tb unless you pay $30 more for unlimited or rent their modem then its unlimited also . i did not call them. all i did was go online and check my account and see what they offered . using a credit card for payment got $2 off per month, but putting checking account in there got me $10 off .

I need to check my contract. Those mofos warned me when I went over once, 3 years ago, with their modem. Just built my PC and I was downloading everything.

I just got Cogent out to the second office, 10 minutes away for a trade of a very, very cheap dedicated synchronous gigabit to our main office downtown. They're trying to break into the area too because Comcast is literally the only ISP just 10 minutes away so hopefully more companies follow suit. I really want MetroNet to be here.

I should run for mayor. My slogan will be "I gave you guys choices!"

Internet providers were I have lived the last 2 decades have always upgraded speed for free, until a year or so later. Then they raise the price. More or less, the 300 Mbps may no longer be offered by Comcast, if not now, in the future.

We currently have 300/300 fiber, $57.95 a month. I will hold onto that for as long as I can fight them to not upgrade us. There is no reason for a standard home to have more. But they increase speed that you cant use for more profit.

Anyway, I noticed on our provider website the newest "slow" service is 500/500 at $67.95 a month and I cant find 300/300 anyplace so they are forcing new people into the higher plan for bandwidth that the vast majority are not even capable of using.

That is itching for a not safe for bitog joke but I'll restrain myself 😂

literally the ONLY good thing about spectrum is no cap.. otherwise terrible prices, outages, poor customer service from india telling me to restart my modem when its not connecting for hours. etc.
Luckily last year or 2 its been more reliable.

I have about 95% good stuff to say about spectrum and 99% bad stuff to say about AT&T.

Nah. I've cancelled my Comcast service before and it was easy. They may offer a deal in exchange for a new contract. I don't think they can just give a discount without locking in a term of at least a year.

My dad made sure to go in person to an Xfinity store in order to cancel after he switched to a pure fiber service. I went with him to make sure it went smoothly. They asked a few questions, but otherwise they didn't fight it.

I feel like I’m reading stuff from out of dark ages with what you guys put up with for Internet service.
I’ve been on the Internet since 1996. I never had a data cap and never a contract.

OK, so let’s move into the future of the last 15 years or so. First it was ATTDSL, no data cap no contract. Then it was Spectrum no data cap no contract and now it’s a fiber optic co-op with no data cap and no contract.

Out of all of them, Spectrum was the absolute money grabbing worst
I had no choice until we moved to the new house almost 2 years ago and no longer have them
In the last house, the service was good but they would routinely bump up speed every two years or so than a year later bump up that price right before we moved. We had over a 50% price increase no option to stick with the speed that we had.

Literally as we were moving to a new house, they were trenching the lawns at our old house, competition arrived in the form of fiber optic from another company. My old neighbors were jumping ship in droves to the new company. The fiber optic company, which will always be fairly priced because it is part of the electric co-op that offers the service.

Before moving 2 years ago, we had 1gb down/1gb up symmetrical fiber with no data cap for only $70/mo

it was flippin glorious
