If any of you have acid reflux, its a u know what living with it. I have, but now under control. I was on acid reflux pills for years and discovered I did not need them when I discovered applecider vinegar, honey, and lemon mix. Recently my favorite is extra vigin olive oil, yep , sounds bad. Its not, one tablespoon in the morning and nite and Im good to go. Now all the above worked for me.

U can go to www.earthclinic.com and read tons of stuff on it if u wish. There is more on that site then u can read in one setting, so take ur time.

Wait, you solved a health issue with natural OTC stuff rather than prescriptions drugs? Who do I call to report this travesty?

Seriously, I will try some of those out. Thanks.

Apple cider vinegar with honey is a great cure. I was unaware of olive oil as a solution but I may have to try that. Thanks for the link.

Interesting. One of the family members has an infant that has reflux. Poor little thing. Wonder if the natural stuff would be palatable by infants... The little baby is getting the same meds that I hear about on TV.

With the infant, get them to check for hiatal hernia...might be as simple as running a thumb with gentle pressure just under the breast-bone and follow the left ribs around half way around.

It's better to deal with the causes of reflux than chase remedies. here's what causes it:

-overweight, literally your big, fat gut pressing down on a full stomach
-overeating, see above
-eating a big meal too close to bedtime, see above
-laying flat in bed after 1, 2, 3, elevate your head

Reflux, or what I like to call "regurg" is a uniquely American "disease" and is just one of many ailments brought on by our obese society. Get your diet, weight and eating habits under control and you won't need any drugs or homemade remedies.

You're right, the incidence of GERD is strongly linked to obesity. GERD is also made worse by eating high-fat meals, as this causes the stomach to produce more acid. People need to control their weight instead of taking these easy-way-out remedies and drugs. A lot of ailments would vanish if people ate a healthy diet and maintained a healthy weight

Simple fix is a rinse of the mouth and immediately brush your teeth after you drink the mix. Otherwise the vinegar can attack tooth enamel, but its nothing to worry about if you follow the above advise.

If ur on meds, check with ur doctor also, I still have to go and get a esophagus check up every 4 years because the cells in ur throat can turn to cancer and then ur in for deep problems.

Agreed. Don't chase the symptoms, fix the cause.

i would like to ad that this isnt always true im 20 years old and have gerds disease. im not over weight and i eat pretty well. its a lot easier once you realize whats the trigger of it . for me mtn dew, hard liquor, peanut butter, oj, other juices, red meat . all of this is sometimes though. i will go through times where i dont have an issue for a couple months then all of the sudden everyday for a month. usually hot foods dont bother me though.

As I said in my other post, high-fat meals are one cause of GERD. One PB sandwich can have over 20g of fat

The only time Ive ever had any kind of heartburn is when I had a tomato sauce/pasta dinner with red wine.

The tomato makes for acid, pasta is carb, sugars create an acid response, as Im sure the wine does too.
